Q4 - Anything Goes
update to message #194so i finally finished 13 Secrets ! I also randomly ended up reading the poet x but idk how it affects this thread cause I didn't have in the original message and it doesn't really affect any of my goals D:
update message #9: 23/40Read: Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow. Wish there was a fourth book in this series ready for me to dive into.
Update to Message #9: 24/40Read An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States. Realizing just how much I have to learn and how hard that learning is.
Update message #9: 26/40Read Haunted Histories: Creepy Castles, Dark Dungeons, and Powerful Palaces with my thirteen-year-old. We were hoping for juicy ghost stories and tales of murder, and instead this was a pretty standard introduction to life in the middle ages. We were a little disappointed.
Sunshine, we really enjoyed Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls as well. We're reading some of the Babysitters Club books together and she's reading the graphic novels on our own. Since she's read the graphic novels (and I've read the whole series before), we're not reading in any particular order, so we started The Ghost At Dawn's House last night.

This looks like an interesting series. Marked it for future reading.

Woohoo! Lisanne! 🏆Congratulations!🏆 on reaching your goal! Good job!
I know! It feels surreal that I am only two books away- I am very excited! For me, "The Once and Future Witches" was a super engaging read. I really enjoyed the way she embedded a variety of themes into this novel (ranging from the suffragist movement to gender, womanhood, and sexuality)Sunny wrote: "Mikaela wrote: "Update msg #18

Isn't it nice when the inside matches the outside? :)I've marked it as To Read. My list just keeps growing!

Update message #9: 27/40I read What Were We Thinking: A Brief Intellectual History of the Trump Era. Loved this because it was a book about various books. Of course, now I have a whole list of books that I "need" to read.

The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley
Read this as an "anything goes" book for this challenge and for a book club with my friends. It was just okay. I found the first half of the book very slow.
Yes it is! And I know EXACTLY what you mean. This challenge in particular this year has made my personal TBR very long haha :)Sunny wrote: "Isn't it nice when the inside matches the outside? :)

One to go!!!
Update msg #18 12/12 completed!! I have ADORED this challenge and will definitely continue reading more books towards it.
5) A book that takes place in the winter
The Christmas Letters by Lee Smith
This was an okay read. I enjoyed the concept of learning about their lives through letters they wrote every winter around Christmas but found the whole narrative to feel a little fragmented. The ending was also quite abrupt

What did you think of this book?"
It was okay but didn’t meet my expectations from really liking the previous book I read by this author (The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared). I like the writing but didn’t really like the main characters.
