Olivia Damiano | 11 comments I read this book in middle school in a middle school library so I’m assuming it was in the middle grade genre but possibly YA. It was a historical type romance but clean. It was about a girl who lives in a run down castle and needs to marry well so that she can save it. I remember the title having “castle” in it but it was not the book “I Capture the Castle” (although there are similarities).
The book starts out with her refusing an offer of marriage from an old guy she doesn’t like and her mom (or maybe stepmom) getting mad at her for it. She has stepsisters who have money but are not willing to share with her. She lives in a run down castle and tries to keep up the appearance of having money while actually being very poor. Two men move into the neighborhood and she believes that the nicer one is rich and tries to get close to him while she is annoyed by the other man. (SPOILER: the other man is actually rich while his friend, the nicer one, is running out of money but it works out because the main character falls for the other man). I also remember that she had a dog that was given to her by them.
From what I remember the cover had a picture of a castle on it with blue and purple text in a calligraphy-type font with the title.

I hope that makes sense! It’s just been bugging me that I can’t remember or find it so I hope someone can help!
