The bodies were cremated in twenty minutes. Each crematorium worked with fifteen ovens, and there were four crematoriums. This meant that several thousand people could be cremated in a single day. Thus for weeks and months--even years--several thousand people passed each day through the gas chambers and from there to the incineration ovens. Nothing but a pile of ashes remained in the crematory ovens. Trucks took the ashes to the Vistula, a mile away, and dumped them into the raging waters of the river.

I was amazed by what I got to see of the first movie that was based on it. Which was at the time the flick "The Last Man on Earth" starring Vincent Price.

They fled away through the thorny forest, then again they went to ground, straining to hear, to feel his vibrations coursing beneath them through the earth. Maybe he would scent them and follow, maybe not. They dared not go into the open. Dulie, hiding and frightened, knew he was the dog that had followed her down among the houses. He was the hunter now, and she was the prey, and she didn’t like the feeling.

(Excerpt from “The Matchmaker” by Marie Krepps)

King Meadow was a man in his sixties, his long white hair slicked back. Skin as black as night, his eyes were just as dark. The king was about her height, though he seemed slightly hunched over. His eyes trailed over her and he gave a small nod of approval. “Queen Tima. It is an honor to meet you. Welcome to my kingdom. We do hope you have a pleasant stay with us.”

At the time I really was not at all comfortable holding the stage with a microphone. I had a manager figure who did the talking for me. With every summer camp, I started to feel more confident; I learned subtle points, such as posture, how to stand over an opponent to make myself look bigger, and how to give the audience time to react at key points of a match. The veterans emphasized that the most important thing to learn was how to feel the crowd. And this is the cool thing about coming from the UK. Whether there are twenty fans or fifteen thousand at a show, British crowds are always LOUD. The fans are wild. Even on the smaller wrestling shows, I never minded if there were not many people there, because as awesome as it is to have a full arena, you can’t hear individual insults. You need to be sharp on your feet, and with every show I was getting sharper. I was a bad guy at the time. It was imperative to establish a good back-and-forth banter because if a fan eats you alive, you are dead in the water.

Iadon held his hand palm-forward in the air to forestall any more of her drivel, turning back to his ledgers. Sarene barely kept herself from smiling as she wiped her eyes and pretended to study the painting behind her.
