Well.. I guess I'll just start with the novellas and then read the regular books in the series.


Prologue-Chapter 2: (view spoiler)[Seems pretty interesting so far. I feel really bad for the people who live in this land that the princess is traveling on - they seem so sad and very poor. I can totally see them being upset with the kingdom, the land, and the king as well. I definitely would be that mad if I lived/worked there. I hope that the princess can and will find a way to fix their terrible situation - ya know, if or when she ever becomes queen. Also, her sister seems a bit naïve at the moment so hopefully this trip will help round her out or something like that. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 3-4: (view spoiler)[I'm sorry but the end of chapter 4 I just started laughing. I have no idea why but the cat then the scream it just seemed kind of comical to me. I'm in love with this novella so far. It seems pretty interesting and I feel so bad for Princess Calla because her sister died and now her niece is the apple of her eye. Well, not only to her but to her soon-to-be-husband as well. I totally get why the princess is getting jealous of their love because she will most likely end up in a loveless marriage herself. So of course anyone in her position would be jealous of two people who were in fact in love before the marriage even happened. Seems rare for princes and princess to get that. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 5-6: (view spoiler)[OMG THE NIECE IS MISSING OR SHE MIGHT BE DEAD?!?! I'm freaking out because I want to know but then I don't want to know because if she did in fact die then I will be really really freaking sad. I don't know how I will feel about the next couple of chapters. I'm really proud that this princess is a huge bad ass. I can't wait to read what will happen next! (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 7-8: (view spoiler)[So she and Zito found the cat that might have killed Lupita, the niece. But they didn't find any evidence that the cat actually did kill her. BUT OMG SHE FOUND LUPITA! I'm so happy that she isn't dead but you find out that she's stupid because she left the castle on her own to find these weed-like flowers for the wedding because she is the flower girl. She could've waited for someone to take her.. But no she didn't. Oh and now they might all be captured. I wonder how they are going to get out of this sticky situation. I hope they are all survive and go to this wedding. I need a happy ending! (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[WOW this was so freaking good! And of course it had a happy ending which I loved! I felt so bad for Zito though because he was getting the shit knocked out of him. He definitely took some major blows but I'm happy that he is safe. I'm kind of disappointed I didn't get to read about the wedding but I will accept the ending after all. I can't wait to read the other novella. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-4: (view spoiler)[Well Mara seems like a pretty interesting character so far. Oh, and she is also a bad ass with an bow and arrow.. now I feel like a lot of girls in books I've been reading are somehow a super bad ass with a bow and arrow. I'm not mad just pointing out how often this happens in books. Aside from that this novella seems pretty fast-paced right now. Her dad is an asshole and I don't even care one bit if he dies in that fire. I just hope all the kids from the village are safe. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 5-8: (view spoiler)[OMFG MY HEART! It might break if Julio never comes to them because he is dead. I mean he said I love you to freaking Mara before running off to make a distraction. If he died... I don't know what I will do. Love will be ruined for me for like ever. I need Julio to be alive because I was sort of shipping him and Mara together. UGH I'm freaking out people. Chapters 9-12: (view spoiler)[Oh yay Julio has been found but he's pretty badly hurt. I feel like Mara just keeps adding more and more kids into this adventure to find the rebellion. Mara thinks she saved him but I don't think he's 100 percent okay. I wonder what's going to happen next. Are they going to reach the rebellion and be safe?! I need to know. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 13-16: (view spoiler)[OMG FREAKING JULIO DIED. My heart is broken. I'm so sad. But they found the rebellion and omg Princess Elisa is there?!? I'm so excited because these novellas are just leading up to a pretty awesome book. I seriously cannot wait to read The Girl of Fire and Thorns now. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-4: (view spoiler)[Well this seems pretty interesting so far. I have no idea who Hector is in this series or how large of a role he plays either. I like that he doesn't want to be a squire anymore that he's going out on a limb to make his dream a reality. He wants to be in the King's Guard - which of course the soldiers know who he really is and how he got a spot in the whole training session anyways. It kind of sucks for him that people will only see him as a squire but I believe in him so much! I wonder what the King wants from him?!?! (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 5-7: (view spoiler)[God I really don't like the guys who are training the new recruits. They seem like such assholes. Can they die? Do they die?! I'd really be happy if something tragic happened to them. I also want to know who murder the King's new squire?!? Will Hector be okay in the end?!? If he dies I will cry so much. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 8-10: (view spoiler)[Okay, so this place is really weird and how they were attacked on their journey to this kingdom. Where the hell is princess Isadora?!?! Who is trying to kill these kids?!? I'm so confused. I just want to know what the hell is going on. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 11-13: (view spoiler)[Holy freaking crap Isadora has been chained up and is super pregnant! Who the hell is the father of this baby?!? Why the hell did her own father chain her up?? Why is this family so freaking batshit crazy. I'm so confused but so freaking interested and completely hooked. I love crazy, I want crazy. Hell I have no idea how to process this shit right now. Finished: (view spoiler)[WOW I really liked this ending! Even though I was thoroughly confused while reading this novella I really enjoyed it. I'm happy that the one guy who was behind the murders, and a thread to the king, was forced into a retirement. Hector gets to go back into training for Royal Guard. The Queen and the King have a new baby - even though their's died. A lot of sad and crazy shit happened but everything eventually headed toward a happy ending. I can't complain at all. Chapters 1-7: (view spoiler)[OMG! I'm freaking out because I'm seeing a lot of the characters that were in the novellas and it makes my heart so freaking happy! I'm so confused I didn't know that the King Alejandro's wife died?!?! Did she die after the novella ended? After she say the baby?!? I'm so confused on when and how that happened!!! I'm shocked and confused but at least he is now married to Elisa - which I am also sort of confused about. Then there's her sister, who I'm wondering she will marry or if she ever will. I don't understand why people hate Elisa's sister, Alodia, but I'm guessing I'll find out later in the book. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 8-14: (view spoiler)[Okay so I totally get that people keep things from other family members all the god damn time. If you knew my mother you would totally understand why we don't tell her every little thing - she's a little over dramatic about everything. But now some of the novellas are starting to make a little bit more sense. Like why Elisa is at the rebellion camp instead of at the castle with her new husband. I'll admit it definitely through me for a loop and I had to try to remember what I read in the novella with Julio and the rest of the kids escaping death. I wonder why Elisa never knew that the war was continuously going on... like why would she think it ended?!? She seems kind of naive about a couple of things. which kind of annoys me. Also I hate how people keep saying be smarter than your sister. I guess she is kind of evil but I still kind of like Alodia...idk it might change. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 15-21: (view spoiler)[Honestly, I don't think it's supposed to be so funny but it kind of is. I mean okay, they kidnapped Elisa and they just expect her to start helping out their cause!?! Also I feel like I'm starting to actually really like Elisa - I mean she was kind of boring in the beginning and I feel that she is starting to come into being her own person. She's all on her own she doesn't have her family to corrupt her thoughts or her husband to protect her. PLUS I'm freaking out that Mara was mentioned and that she met Elisa! I loved Mara in her novella. She is such a bad ass - wait, does that mean Elisa is going to become a super bad ass?!? (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 22-28: (view spoiler)[Wow things are getting so interesting! Humberto died which made me so freaking sad! I actually liked his character. Other than that Cosme and Mara are still pretty interesting - I don't really know how I feel about Cosme still. I mean she's pretty freaking interesting but I just don't know if she's my cup of tea, yet. I wonder what's going to happen next in Elisa's story line.. or on this adventure.. (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[HOLY FUDGING SHIT! That was such a good ending! At first I was so confused and then shocked that someone was stealing the Godstones - I mean what were they planning to do with them?!! Don't they only work for certain people - or am I just completely misunderstanding them and their use.. Who knows?!?! But I'm so freaking pumped for the next book - even though I have so many other books to read first. I'm really sad that Alejandro died but I'm expecting Elisa to become a freaking savage and bad ass in the next book. Again, I'm excited. This was a really exciting book! I loved every page! Ok, I'm loving it so far.Elisa is so likeable. :) I don't know what to think about Alejandro. He seems nice, but there are a lot of secrets. And I like that Elisa is insecure about her appeareance, but makes very good decisions. I really want her to feel loved and desired! And I don't know what to feel about her sister, because in Elisa's eyes, she doesn't seem like a very nice person, but her actions says otherwise. Anyway, I'm loving it so far!

Wow! Things changed fast! And I'm so relivied! I know she's in a strange enviroment, with strange people, but I'm really glad that she's out of that palace, specially after we discover that Alejandro has a mistress. I was so upset with this! Of course he had his life before marrying Elisa, but he's acting like a coward. I thought I would like him, but I don't. I want to slap him! But I really like Hector and Humberto. :) Let's see how this goes.

Chapters 1-4: (view spoiler)[I like that Alodia wants to be a good Queen to her people. She seems to take to heart her duty, unlike her sister. This poor land though. I can't imagine the terror of having nothing growing on your lands and not knowing if you will be able to feed your people. What a time for a wedding. And talk about cliffhanger...who screamed? I have a feeling something happened to either Calla's mom or Lupita. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 5-8: (view spoiler)[Ah! So Lupita's gone. Taken by this shadow cat or so it seems. I hope that Alodia's father doesn't have anything to do with this. I like that Alodia takes initiative but she also seems a little careless - wanting to go after the cat by herself at night. I love her steward, Zito. But now he's captured but enemy soldiers and it doesn't look very good for him! The one good thing to come out of this chapter was Lupita is alive and fine - well, she's scared and hiding in a cave, but still alive. Also, RIP shadow cat. (hide spoiler)]
Chapters 9-10: (view spoiler)[SO much craziness! Alodia kicks some major ass saving Zito, but I'm not sure how injured he is. He's missing both his eyes and is burned and who knows what else. I feel so bad for him. He's supposed to be protecting the Princess but it she ends up protecting him. (hide spoiler)]
Finished: (view spoiler)[Ahh everyone is ok and the wedding happens! I liked that Alodia seems to see something in her sister and wants to explore it more. And Zito is alive! He may be blind but I have a feeling he could still kick some ass. (hide spoiler)]

A lot of things are happening, but at the same time I'm anxious about what is to come. These political games are just a bit boring for me. They're nice and all, but for too much time it becomes boring. And in the first book so many things happened that I keep wondering what will happen in this one.

One thing I really want to happen is for Elisa and Hector to be together already. I believe he liked her from start and she likes him too. But she went through so much during the first book (Alejandro, the kidnnaping, Humberto...). A lot of things changed for her... and for him. Now they need to figure out how to deal with what they feel for each other. But it's really cute, really!

But let's talk about other things. Storm was a very nice addition to the group. And Rosario is so cute! I really like him! And knowing that soon they will go after the gates of life makes me happy. All this intrigue in the palace is making me nervous.

FINALLY! A KISS! It was fast, but so rewarding!



I can't help but being a little disapointed at Ximena. Come on! Elisa has been through so much! Let the girl love and be loved! You, as a mother to her, should understand. And suggest her sister to marry him instead is almost cruel, even more coming from her, who knows how the relationship between Elisa and her sister has always been.

But now that Ximena isn't with them until, I believe, the end of the book, I'm more happy. Let's see how everything turns out.

And Tristan being gay was the best! I really like him! And Storm is so honest and funny! I love everyone, really!

Ok, I finished it. I liked it, I really did, but so many things frustraded me that I don't think I'll be able to give it 5 stars. The angst between Elisa and Hector was too much! All the other characters and situations were great! The ending, when she freed Storm, was so beautiful! I didn't even mind for Hector to be taken away. I think it will be interesting. But the back and forth situation between the two of them, like they were children... Ugh! My head hurts!
