Thriller the Missing Author Plot

Do you know any book about a missing Author ? I´m looking for any kind of story wich is about a personage searching for an author, a writer or an artist. Could be a personage that is reading a book who's author is anonymous or has dissappeared. To give a better idea, there are some novels with a plot more or less similar: Paul Auster's The book of illusions; Gaito Gazdanov's The spectre of Alexander Wolf; or even Roberto Bolaño's 2666... It could be another artist, for exemple Nick Hornby Juliet Naked the character is a musician.
Bref.., do you know books with a similar plot: "a reader loves a book and start searching the author but can't find it"?
