RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I finished Hemingway's first novel and - as usual - my rating is based on personal enjoyment rather than a measure of literary merit:

The Sun Also Rises (QPB Special Collection) by Ernest Hemingway
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
Rating: 3 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

and I started reading Dashiell Hammett's final novel, the basis for a popular film series during the Great Depression:

The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett

TEE | 267 comments Currently reading one of the most interesting and gripping books I've read this year, and quite possibly a bit before that. I'm not quite finished, but only put it down to get a few hours of sleep and then, work, of course. lol

Only a Monster
Only a Monster (Monsters, #1) by Vanessa Len

Thieryn | 133 comments In waiting for my April buddy reads to start, I am trying to finish Miriam Margolyes' autobiography This Much is True. It is hilarious, as expected, and quite raunchy, also as expected, which fits the picture I have painted in my mind of her based on what few interviews I have seen her in.

PattyMacDotComma I've just read a new debut that's a 20th century story by Aussie author Emily Brugman. A group of Finns migrated to the heat of Western Australia and became seasonal cray fishers on The Islands. First generation is traditional - second is in hotpants at beach BBQs.
The Islands by Emily Brugman 4.5~5★ My review of The Islands

PattyMacDotComma I imagine all readers are aware of who Nelson Mandela is, but for the future generations of children, this is a welcome addition to the Little People BIG DREAMS series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This boy moved from a traditional childhood in an old culture to become a champion for freedom and a world leader.
Nelson Mandela by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara 4.5★ My review of Nelson Mandela

I am planning on starting Dream Key this weekend so I can review it as I promised I would so I feel like I need to and next week I will start 'Unusual Read' as my this months read from another group. I am also going to a group meet for my local bookclub so hopefully they will give me the title of the book we are going to discuss at the next meet so I can read that before the month is up and if I find the time in between everything and changing my job I'm hoping to read this month's book for this group as well....it's a busy month not going to lie

Pretty good so far; trying to guess and unravel the mystery before the end. =p

message 2044: by PattyMacDotComma (new)

PattyMacDotComma The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudesley is an entertaining debut by Sean Lusk which has some history, some mystery, some magic, and exotic locales (think sultan and harem!) so I can see a real fan base for this when it comes out in June.
The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudesley by Sean Lusk 3.5★ My review of Second Sight of Zachary...

PattyMacDotComma I enjoyed Viet Thanh Nguyen's 2016 Pulitzer Prize winner, The Sympathizer, but the political and philosophical arguments got the better of me in his follow-up, The Committed. He's an excellent, smart writer - and funny (a Chinese guy called Le Cao Boi wishes he were American).

PattyMacDotComma Zeba Blay's Carefree Black Girls: A Celebration of Black Women in Popular Culture is a passionate protest, full of examples, about the global culture of "colorism" and how the darkness of your skin decides your worth and opportunities. She knows her stuff!

Alicja (140177766-alicja) I have finished a long walk to freedom, it was a difficult book and a long one but honestly it was life changing and I could not recommend it enough. I have decided to put three sisters on the back burner, instead I'm reading Natural Causes for a little bit of a break between the hearsher topics, I may pick up three sisters soon but not until I finish this one and at least one of my book club books
