Fun series about original kids of fairytale characters, basically 2nd year of high school the kids have to sign this book pledging to repeat their parents stories otherwise the kids and the story will disappear, story starts when their parents pass on. This takes place before book 1 so summer
Book 1 is the characters 2nd year of school

The book that inspired the movie in print in the US for the first time! If you love the movie Kiki's Delivery Service you will probably like this book

If you like fantasy/adventure you might like the Artemis Fowl series you have to start at book #1 otherwise you might be confused

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

and I started reading:

Die Trying by Lee Child

It's kind of exciting to have a daily ritual and a book that will stay with me until the end of the year :D

Technically, it's an easy read; emotionally, it's a heartbreaker.

I really enjoyed it although a cozy set in a retirement home is a little off-genre for me.

Books of Blood: Volume IV by Clive Barker

Books of Blood: Volume V by Clive Barker

This novel is well-crafted and well-researched historical fiction. I found it a powerful story about the role of hope and personal connection in conditions of powerlessness.

I have two other books I am working on - The Making of the Middle Ages by Robert Southern and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling (for a buddy read, and it is totally an old favorite!)

This week I finished rereading Crime and Punishment and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (first time reading). I liked Crime and Punishment more as an adult than I did in high school - although I think I was unfairly prejudiced against it because I resented having to read it during the summer before my senior year (and take a test the first day of school).
