The closest things I came across were Shadow Frost and God Storm by Coco Ma, but they were published in 2019 and 2020 so I don't think can be your books.

yes i am!
unfortunately those books are not the ones i was looking for :(( I really do need to go to the library to find these books again, but I am currently looking through the 'fae' book lists (there's so many!!)

I've just come across The Queen's Choice by Cayla Kluver, which has a dagger falling through water on the cover:

The second book has a green cover but it's a throne, not a crown or a dagger:

Also, you can 'bump' your post to the front page every 30 days if you want to, so that more people will see it - and hopefully someone will recognise it. All you have to do is add a comment to let us know you're still looking.

she also had a guy companion (maybe it was an animal of some sort? i don't remember) and at some point had to leave her home to go on her journey, the point of which i forgot but it may have been to find the dagger that i mentioned in the title.
i remember very vaguely there was a scene where they were celebrating some sort of holiday? it was either at the start of the book, when we learn of MC's bad relationship with her mother, or it happened when MC slipped out to go on her journey during the celebrations.
this was a series that i read somewhere in 2014-2016 and i remember the first book's cover was dark green. i remember nothing else about it. the second book's cover looked a lot like the cover to The Wicked King, but it was a much darker blue, a different (more solid) crown, and also had a dagger. i'm not sure if there was a third book.
i remember the author had a very unique (and imo, very cool) name so i should be able to recognize the series by author alone.
iirc, the second book should be called 'frost' something.
it is NOT Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception
