Two young girls live a wonderful life with their parents on a large property, their parents tragically die and the girls are sent into boarding school at their current school. Life turns tragic for them. The main focus is on the older sister who starts sleep walking at night and finds a secret door underneath her school and enters. Through the door her world is an opposite one, she is in the same place and time but her parents are alive and everything is very happy. the book goes back and forth of her entering the door to the good life and back to the bad one. cannot remember much else or the ending. Read it in 2006, possibly set in Australia but unsure.
