Annika (theoneandonlybookdragon) | 6 comments I read this book around second grade so around 2007 but I think it was an older book. It had this boy who went to live with a female family member because I think his parents either died or left.

I remember that there was a gazebo in the backyard where he picked berries off to eat?

I remember him accidentally whipping cream into butter.

There was also a girl next door who became his friend.

Rainbowheart | 28722 comments How old was the boy?

Was it historical fiction, or set in the modern day?

He was a young boy but i think almost a pre-teen. It was set in the present but it was an older book

Rainbowheart | 28722 comments Do you remember if the female relative was old or young?

Was she a grandmother or an aunt?

She was like a middle aged aunt I think. She didn't act like a grandmother so I'm leaning towards aunt

Rainbowheart | 28722 comments I'm determined to track this down, lol.

Do you remember if the setting was more rural, like in the countryside, vs. the suburbs?

Do you think the book took place in America or a different country?

I think it was America. It was like a small house with the gazebo in the backyard. It wasn't in a city though.

munkchip | 4 comments I also read a kid's book in which the main character, a young boy, whipped cream into butter on accident. It is called Different Dragons, by Jean Little, came out 1986. The boy, Ben was left with his Aunt Rose while his parents are a way, and she gives him a dog, not knowing he's afraid of dogs. The girl next door likes the dog though, and Ben eventually makes friends with her, and gets to know the dog when it turns out both he and the dog are afraid of thunderstorms.
