Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Does anyone want to do a buddy read with me? I will definitely be reading both A Life Once Dreamed by Rachel Fordham and A Sparrow in Terezin by Kristy Cambron in August, but am open to other suggestions as well (if I have access to it! 😊)
A Life Once Dreamed by Rachel Fordham A Sparrow in Terezin (Hidden Masterpiece #2) by Kristy Cambron

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Hi, Jennifer! It’s been a while since I read Christian historical fiction. I’d be happy to read either of these books with you 😊 Just let me know which book you’re starting and when you plan to start!

message 3: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Charmaine, I will probably start both of these in the next week or two, so you can just let me know which one you want to read and we can decide on a date that works! I'm actually trying to finish up my current book and should finish it here in a few days so any time after that is fine for me! :)

Thanks for the update, Jennifer!I'll read the Sparrow in Terezin with you for August. I saw on another thread that you'll be reading A Life Once Dreamed with someone else in September, so I think I'll read that one in September when both of you read it. :-)

I saw that Sparrow in Terezin is book #2 in a series. Do I need to read book 1 first to understand book 2?

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments I'm so sorry, I just now saw your most recent comment!
Anyway, that will be so much fun for you to join us on A Life Once Dreamed in September! (I'm not really sure why i have two threads going, honestly. I think my Kindle tablet must've glitched and posted it twice...)
Yes, it is book 2 in the Hidden Masterpiece Collection. The Butterfly and the Violin is book 1. I actually just finished it last night! I read on the Popular Asked Questions part of The Sparrow's page that it seems most people recommend reading The Violin first to get a deeper understanding of the characters, but it isn't absolutely necessary in order to understand the plot. So really, it's up to you! If you'd like to contiue with our plan to read The Sparrow this month, I'd be glad to, but if you'd rather read The Violin first, I totally understand and am totally willing to postpone our buddy read until you are ready! 😊

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Oh, and here is a link to the Popular Asked Questions I mentioned: https://www.goodreads.com/questions/2...

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Thanks so much, Jennifer 😊 I bought a kindle e-book the other day that has two books in one 😃 I do prefer to read the first book, but if you’re eager to start book 2, go ahead and I’ll try to catch up. 😉 If you’d rather wait, then thank you 😊 I’m no longer a fast reader like I used to be, but I’m trying to get back into reading a lot and making more time for it!

message 8: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments I'm totally fine with waiting for you to finish the first one, even if it takes you all month! 😉 I honestly have plenty of other books I actually need to read for deadlines right now! If you want, you can just let me know when you are ready to start The Sparrow, and we can make a plan from there! 😊

Hi, Jennifer! Thanks for your patience and understanding! Okay, that sounds like a good plan. I read the first chapter of the first book and it's pretty interesting so far. :-)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Not a problem at all!!! Glad you're liking it so far! :)

Diana C. Kobylak | 36 comments Hi Jennifer and Charmain.
I just opened this post and looking forward to joining you both in the buddy read. I just checked out Book 1 on ebook audio from the library, along with Book 2, A Sparrow in Terezin. I shall start reading by tomorrow as I am concluding a Tracie Peterson book today. I tend to read audio books at a faster pace as I can listen while I work. I will check back for any status updates👍🏻

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Oh great, Diana! Keep an eye on this thread and we can all start A Sparrow in Terezin together. What fun! :)

message 13: by Diana C. Kobylak (new)

Diana C. Kobylak | 36 comments Hi Jennifer. I shall indeed. Yes, will be fun indeed😊

message 14: by Diana C. Kobylak (new)

Diana C. Kobylak | 36 comments Hi Jennifer and Charmain. I have now completed The Butterfly and the Violin, so whenever you are ready we can move on to the next book if you haven’t already. Thanks😊

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Oh, great Diana! We haven't started A Sparrow in Terezin yet. But we plan to soon! Once Charmaine has finished The Butterfly and the Violin, we can all decide on what a good start date is. And possibly a goal end date if that would be helpful in keeping us from dragging our feet through it or getting sidetracked? Let me know what y'all think!

message 16: by Diana C. Kobylak (new)

Diana C. Kobylak | 36 comments That’s great Jennifer!!
I started on a different book in the meantime and will keep checking in😊

message 17: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments hehe I started on another book too! 😉 But I'm actually almost finished with it.

Charmaine, I was just wondering how The Butterfly and the Violin is coming along for you? It's totally okay if you're still reading it, I was just wondering if we could all get together and discuss a potential start date? Personally, I could start it at the beginning of the month, or start others at the beginning and save A Sparrow for later. Either way is fine with me! 😉

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Hello, ladies!

So sorry that it's only now I saw your messages! I must have missed the notifications somehow! I am about 1/4 done with The Butterfly and the Violin. It's very good, but I'm reading it slowly. It's my goal to finish it by the end of October. If you guys want to start A Sparrow right now, go ahead and I'll catch up! Let me know :-)

message 20: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Charmaine - that is totally fine! I understand how these things go... I'm in a bit of a conundrum myself! I have so many books I should be reading ;/ but I keep not reading any of them because I want to move on to others still! Anyway, I responded to your private message, so you should see my response in your inbox as well. :)

message 21: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Diana - I'm not sure if you ended up reading A Sparrow in Terezin already or not? If so, that is totally understandable! Charmaine and I dragged things out a little... hehe! If, however, you've not read it how does saving it for November sound? That way, Charmaine should be done with The Butterfly and the Violin, and I should have some of my current reading commitments met! ;) Let me know what you think!

message 22: by Diana C. Kobylak (new)

Diana C. Kobylak | 36 comments Hello Jennifer and Charmaine. I have not yet started A Sparrow in Terezin, but it is in my queue. November is totally fine with me. In the meantime, I have plenty of books to keep me busy. I shall wait until you give the word😊👌

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Sounds great! I'll probably come back here and post towards the end of October and see how close y'all are to being ready! :)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Thanks for your understanding, ladies! November sounds great :-)

message 26: by Diana C. Kobylak (new)

Diana C. Kobylak | 36 comments Jennifer and Charmaine please start the book without me. I am currently taking classes and will be concentrating on that for a while.
Enjoy the upcoming holidays😊

message 27: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments No worries, Diana! I am still reading the Butterfly and the Violin. I’m somewhere between 60-65% done with it. Wishing you the best with your classes!

message 28: by Diana C. Kobylak (new)

Diana C. Kobylak | 36 comments Thanks Charmaine!!
I do hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. Nice to learn a little more about history along with the fictional aspect😊

message 29: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennbehindthebooks) | 66 comments Ladies, I am so sorry I am just now seeing this! I've been rather busy lately and haven't really gotten on Goodreads much...
Diana, I'm sorry we haven't made time to read this all together yet! I pray your classes go well!
Charmaine, let me know when you are ready to read A Sparrow in Terezin. I'm not in a huge rush, as I'm reading other books right now. Maybe when we are ready, Diana will be able to join us! :)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 114 comments Jennifer, I just finished last night. It was so so good. I think Kristy Cambron is now one of my favorite authors - I love her writing style 😃 Let me know when you’re ready to read A Sparrow, or prefer to do another buddy read 😊
