Unfortunately, I can’t remember anything. The only thing that’s clear in my head is the horse and the boy that comes with him.

I'm looking for an adult romance novel I read in the 2010s and was likely published between the 2000s and now. The genre of the book is either historical romance, paranormal/urban fantasy romance, or some combination of the both.
The male lead is a powerful man with a reputation. He seems to be coming out of obscurity or some kind of retirement because, while he still has influence, he doesn't have the money he used to. Still, he is used to ordering people around and being obeyed.
He visits a family he knows and that is well-known for breeding strong horses. The family seems to respect and slightly fear him so they agree to give him a horse despite him not having the money he used to. The father makes a deal to give the H a horse if the H agrees to take his son with him. The horse-breeder's son is considered kind of "stupid" and "not right in the head" because he's aggressive and reckless. The H sees potential in the boy and agrees to take him as a kind of valet in his army (or some other kind of fighting force maybe?). The boy proves to be useful later on in the book and seems to have a talent with horses.
The horse the H ends up with is a white horse that prances about and seems to glow. The horse likes attention and to show off much to the H's embarrassment and frustration. It's a funny little joke that continues throughout the novel and is noticed by other characters who are sometimes baffled as the horse does inexplicable things and doesn't match the H's image.
That's all I remember about the book. Sorry for all the excessive details and thanks in advance for any help in finding this one!
