message 151: by John (new)

John Sugden | 13 comments Hi Anita (and others)

I go through different phases. I have shelves of thrillers, a few classics, sci-fi, fantasy, non-fiction, classic mid 20th century children's books, historical fiction, others that slip my mind for the moment. I generally don't head for romance or family drama but never say never.

The children's books are what got me started. I lived in Scotland as a child and Drymen library had a fantastic section of Malcolm Saville, Ronald Welch, Monica Edwards, John Pudney and the like. I've never looked back.

Anita | 3313 comments Plenty to keep you going there John, I enjoy most but leave out the romance and Si Fi I think one good thing kindle has done for me is given me the chance to try books I would never have done. We have loads of great authors on here and just chatting to them sometimes encourages you to try their novels and, in most cases, enjoy them very much.

Hi John!

Sounds like we have the same taste in books. Or near enough. I've not read romance since I was a kid. Family drama, not so much but...

Check out The Potato Factory Magic.

John Wakefield | 8 comments I like to read from different genres, so tend to go from one to another just to have a change. hope to try out the book 'the potato factory' in near future.

Audrina Lane | 32 comments Hi All, Audrina here and looking forward to getting to know you all! Here's a little bit about me.
I live in Herefordshire in the UK and am lucky to be surrounded by books on a daily basis as I work for the Library service. Have listened, read and enjoyed books all my life and never leave the house without my kindle or ipad so I always have something to read!! Love all genres but fav authors are Stephen King, Deborah Harkness, Anita Shreve, Jilly Cooper amongst others.
I published my first novel in July 2013, 2nd in November 2014 and currently working on my third and they make up the Heart Trilogy. Its a romance, chick-lit type of story with some erotic love scenes and a bit of gritty realism in for good measure. Also great is you like a look back at the music, films and fashion of the 1980's
I will pop in and out as I can between working, writing and life in general xx

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments Hi Audrina, welcome, - I'm curious about the origin / nationality of the name........can you tell or is it secret?

message 161: by Audrina (new)

Audrina Lane | 32 comments Hi Kath, Hi L.A thanks for the welcome. It's actually my pen name (sssh) but its a mixture of my Dad's sisters name Aurine and my Nan's name Ena. Also it was a character name in an old Virginia Andrews book called "My Sweet Audrina"
I love it too, serously considering changing my name to it xx

Elizabeth Armstrong | 12 comments HI All,

I'm not entirely sure hope I found my way here but having had a look at some of the topics I'm glad I did. I'm a avid reader and very new author. Kindle direct publishing is turning out to be a very 'interesting' experience. So far all I can safely say about this group is that you all appear to be very strange, in the best of possible ways of course, and I'm looking forward to some lively discussions.

Normal is definitely overrated, so I'll save the running until something really scary happens :)

Theo Rogers | 43 comments Hi All,

Gingerlily, who knows me a little from Amazon, gave me directions here.

I think you can check me out as a book reviewer and as an author by clicking on my name.

I also review a lot of stuff other than books - mostly film and television. If you'd like to check me out a little more, my Amazon reviewer profile page is a pretty good place to start:

Stacey Field (staceyfield) | 3 comments Anybody here drink herbal tea? My faves at the mo are camomile with spiced apple and peppermint tea. Anyone recommend any others? I can't have caffeine sadly (I know...a writer that can't rely on coffee! Who'd have thunk it)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments We have a thread on the subject. You may find something helpful in here.

My friend drinks herbal teas Stacey, sorry to say that I am not keen on the smell of them, mind you I don't drink ordinary tea either so perhaps I am not the best judge.

message 194: by Theo (new)

Hello,

I'm Allan Graham. I live in Manchester. Hope to meet new friends and like-minded people on here to exchange tips and ideas with.

Just released my 3rd TOM O'KELL novel - Tom O'Kell & The Papanuk. Children's mystery/horror adventure in a Native American dimension, peppered with sadness and humour. It's free to download on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VA3W522

Spent 3 and a half years writing the 3 novels and after much reading and re-writing I'm finally happy with all 3 now. Need a rest before I start the 4th in the series - Tom O'Kell & The Curse Of Amurabis. I only know it will be set in a Babylonian dimension.

You can see extracts at www.allangrahambooks.com

Thanks
Allan Graham
