I hope not, or you would never get the bourbon soaked bacon again!

How very dare you. I do like a bit of crispy bacon. But when the crunch is my teeth, then it's over done. I hate it so floppy, that when you bite it, the fat pulls out in a string. Yucky.
Once, when I was bored. I decided to deep fat fry, and batter a pork pie. It was nice, but I could hear my heart saying, "Go on. Take a bite. See what I do then."
You sound just like my hubby Michael, he likes things well done, and if he gets a stringy bit of fat it puts him off the whole thing. I have never given him deep fried pork pie though, he would most likely think it was lovely too
Hi:I am Mike Lee. Believe or not, I've been trying to get back on Goodreads for about a year. Something happened to my pword.
Don't ask me. Anyway, I am a old rookie, a relatively new Author.
I am from Fairfield, Ohio and have a wife, a daughter (just starting her second year of college) and I have written both Science Fiction books as well as Non-Fiction. Hope I don't step on my tongue too often. Glad to be here with you all. Thanks.
Pleased to say hi and welcome, Mike, - I just popped on here to reveal that my first MIL once deep fried a block of liver pate. Politeness demanded it was eaten with the chips that were also fried in dripping.(I am not a ghost...)
Hello,I'm Joanna, mid twenties, live in Berkshire. I've been on goodreads for a while spectating, and only just starting to participate a bit more..
I'm generally a book worm and make good use out of my kindle unlimited account.. I tend towards easy reading books, but could use some more good recommendations.
Looking forward to chatting....

Hi Joanna,
I feel funny welcoming you because I'm an American, but I'm going to do it anyway. I'm glad you jumped in. Anyone who's a book worm is okay with me. And, I don't read the heavy stuff either as I read for entertainment.

I didn't know you were Canadian, Patti. You're closer than I thought. No wonder you like Canadian bacon. (Truth be told, it's my favorite too.)

Maybe, but she's definitely a baconated Canadian.
Okay, guys. I started my new thread. So, anytime you come across a word that is different in American English, please feel free to add it. (As we already had our 'fanny' discussion I didn't add that. I feel funny even writing it now.

Where I am changes constantly.
I'm in Mexico at the moment.
I usually update my whereabouts in the morning thread.

Off to a friend's birthday party. It's being held at the VFW. It's one of the older buildings in our village, but it doesn't even come close to what you find in Europe.
Welcome Zuri - and if the bacon, spring chickens and fanny discussions didn't put you off joining - you'll fit in very well with us lot!!
If you like puns as well you might enjoy the bacon thread :)https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Hi everyone,I'm Mario, almost forties, live in Madrid (Spain) and i'm looking improve my english and looking easy reading books but i'm focus in novels, not teaching, education or children's books.
I'm looking forward chatting with you all as well.
Hi Maria, welcome. A lovely part of the world you are in. I especially like it up in the mountains outside the city.
Hi,How nice it is to find a welcoming, UK-centric reading community that evidently does a nice line in slightly surreal banter! I'm Ferrel, an avid reader who has a penchant for travelogues, philosophy and espionage thrillers. In addition, I'm also a recently self-published author (of a man's point-of-view pregnancy book, if you're interested) so I'm especially keen to engage with anyone who knows the ins-and-outs of dealing with Createspace/KDP.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.
PS: I love Canadian bacon...
Welcome Ferrel. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here even though you enjoy Canadian bacon! What's wrong with the good English stuff!!

I have nothing against English bacon. In fact, I had some lovely English bacon medallions while I was away camping last week and they were pant-wettingly good.
English, Danish, Candian - I love it all...
Hi Kath.Surreal may have been a bit harsh. I guess I was just a bit taken aback by all the talk of chickens, fannies and bacon..!
Oh, and this is the sensible thread! Deary me. Try the Morning thread on General Chat. It's where we check in each day and chew the (bacon) fat.
