Brittany | 25 comments The last book that put me in a reading slump was A Court of Silver Flames because I loved it so much that all of the books I read after I either couldn't get into, or they felt like nothing special. Over the last few years some books that have helped me get back into reading or stood out as a quick and easy read were as follows.
Books to get out of a reading slump:
1.) To All the Boys I've Loved Before - Cute and happy read, also love the family dynamics. A quick read to bring you back to the war against your TBR.
2.) Crimson Bound - I can not recommend this book enough. Great for fans of enemies to lovers (to enemies again). Fast paced red riding hood retelling.
3.) The Giver - I read this in one sitting. A quick paced dystopian that leaves you feeling empty at the end, but still in a reading mood.
4.)Then She Was Gone - This book is something else. When in a reading slump I find a thriller is the easiest way to get myself back into reading. However, a lot of thrillers don't surpass 3 stars, but this one was a solid 5. Got me out of a massive reading slump.
5.)House of Salt and Sorrows- This book isn't going to be for everyone, but it is a quick paced read. This is a retelling of the 12 dancing princesses but where each of the sisters ends up mysteriously dying. Good for fans of retellings, paranormal fantasy, and that ending will leave you in shock.
6.) Sea Witch & Sea Witch Rising - Really enjoyed these. The first book is about the origin of how the sea witch in The Little Mermaid became the way she is. The second book takes on the retelling of the Little Mermaid itself, yet does it in a really different and unique way that doesn't stick to the story we all have seen.
7.) Mom & Me & Mom - This is a great nonfiction/biography to help someone get out of a reading slump. When most people think of Maya Angelou they think of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings as well as her very famous poetry. This book is about her ongoing and often difficult relationship with her mom, and shows the beauty in forgiveness and acceptance. Really beautiful, read it in one sitting, could not put it down.

Anushka (bookish_swiftie) | 1234 comments When I finished The Hunger Games trilogy, I was in a reading slump because I couldn't find anything as interesting as the trilogy. I don't remember which book got me out of it, because I remember reading several books at once during that time. So one of those got me out of the slump.
I went into a slump similarly after The Hate U Give. It was really amazing, and any book that I picked up didn't feel as good as THUG. The Cruel Prince got me out of that slump.

frannie | 59 comments A book that put me in a slump was Anger Is a Gift, but only because I was so broken after reading it that I couldn't pick up anything else. It was great though. The book that took me out was Monday's Not Coming because of how fast it moved.

Bean | 30 comments Tbh, even though this book was terrible and I hated it with a passion, my school book, the absolute my true diary of a part time Indian (do not recommend!!) now this helped me Bc I wanted to just get it over with, u read 325 pages of annoying ness in less then 3 days. Which led me to now, back to finishing books in 3-4 days where it had been taking me weeks or months all year. It’s all about finding that motivation, even if bad lol.

message 72: by Inari (new)

Inari | 10 comments I started reading last year in like September, it‘s a funny story. I read before that like 7 years ago. It started because my friend and I wanted my sister to come with us to get some nettles for tea. In exchange for that she made a deal with us that we will have to read 30 minutes a book. (She wanted us to read so bad, she likes books) Where we got the nettles is acutally a kind of tiny island surrounded by a little stream, so we had to hop over it to get there. We did, everything went great and then on the way back, we didn‘t know how to get away from the island cause we weren‘t able to jump over it the way we came. So I went first over it and my friend after. Then my sister thought she is smarter than us and went to jump over at a different location. We watched as she jumped then held onto a tiny sick looking mini bush and we could see how she slowly went more towards the water of the stream with her back. The bush bent more and more and then she fell into the water. We read after that the promised 30 minutes and it get‘s me and my friend laughing everytime we remind my sister of it. It was so funny to watch her realisation on her face noticing the bush ain‘t gonna hold her over the water. ;) It was a book from John Green and I enjoyed his books a lot when I started reading
