Heather | 97 comments Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch -scifi with a lot of action and humor and mild romance. It is a series though. They do go to different universes and travel in space, but that is a few books in.

Recursion
11/22/63
(Note: I don't know if it bothers you, but these aren't YA books. 11/22/63 is the most explicit; I don't remember there being much too inappropriate in the others, but I may have overlooked it.)

Rachel Adiyah | 88 comments The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch is a really good book, with a great female protagonist.
Dark Matter is by Blake Crouch, about interdimensional sci-fi, as is Recursion, but that is more about time travel.
The Walls of the Universe by Paul Melko is about a guy who goes from one alternate reality to another because of a device he has, really good.
Resonance by Chris Dolley is about a man who constantly travels between parallel universes, and I loved it.
Finity is about travel between parallel universes.
And as always, there is The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

These all have more to do with science fiction than romance.

time travel, a little romance:
To Say Nothing of the Dog, by Connie Willis

Good sci fi, minimal romance:
The Gate to Women's Country, by Sheri S. Tepper
The Terrorists of Irustan, by Louise Marley
Vicious, by V. E. Schwab

A Darker Shade of Magic, by V. E. Schwab

Good sci fi, some romance:
Adaptation, by Malinda Lo

Heather | 97 comments Simon R Green has several series. His Druid series has mild romance, but it's definitely more about the action and magic. Jim Butcher is good also. He has a fantasy series as well as SciFi /UF.
