Non-Reading Challenge (MMC) 2020 - Final Scores Now Posted

How It Works:
Every five days I will make posts on the descriptions thread, with eight different tasks. Each task will state how many points it is worth.
When you think you know the answers, simply send me a personal message making sure to let me know which question(s) your answer(s) are for.
I will then send you a message back, letting you know how many you guessed correctly, and which ones you got wrong.
If you get an answer wrong, don't worry, you have three chances to get it right. If you think you've found the right answer, simply message me again ☺
All rounds will remain open until the challenge ends at 00:01 on August 31st 2020.

★ Guess The Book
For "Guess The Book" tasks you'll receive a list of clues, which all fit one book. Your job is to figure out which book.
Eg:
1. This book is dystopian.
2. The title sounds like a competition between people who don't eat.
3 One cover features a golden bird, with an arrow in its mouth, encircled by a golden circle.
4. This book has over 6 million ratings on Goodreads.
5. This book and the rest of the series, were made into movies.

★ Cover Trouble
For "Cover Trouble" tasks, you'll receive a list of descriptions, which all describe one book cover. Your job is to figure out which cover.
Eg:
1. This cover has a black background.
2. There are two white arms/hands reaching down from the top corners.
3. The two hands are holding a red apple.
4. The title is in white and is towards the top of the cover in the middle.
5. The author's name is also in white and is at the bottom of the cover.

★ Cover Pieces
For "Cover Pieces" tasks you'll receive a small part from the cover of a book. Your job is to work out which cover the "Cover Piece" came from.

★ Find That Phrase
For "Find That Phrase" tasks you'll be given a short phrase from a book's blurb. Your job is to find which book that short phrase came from.

"Born with a gift"

★ Book Wordsearch
For "Book Wordsearch" tasks, you'll be given a Wordsearch puzzle, with a hidden book title and author within it. Your job is to find that title and author.

Hint - "L _ _ _ _ _ _ * F _ _ * A _ _ _ _ _ by J _ _ _ * G _ _ _ _"

★ Match The Book
For "Match The Book" tasks, you'll be given a list of statements and a list of books. Your job is to match the statements to the books that might have come from. Each statement will match with a different book, so 5 statements and 5 books.
Eg:
1. I am brutal, but no-one expects me to be.
2. I love books.
3. I study something that other people would think gruesome.
4. I would rather read than get married.
5. I'm going travelling with a man I shouldn't have feelings for.

★ Title Scramble
For "Title Scramble" tasks you'll be given a jumble of words, and told how many titles are in there. Your job is to work out what those titles are.
Eg:
The, Dawn, of, Wrath, the, Black, Witch, Monsters, and, The, Sea
You are looking for 3 titles.

★ Book Codes
For "Book Codes" tasks you'll be given the first letters from each word in a book's title and author's name (not including the series name). Your job is to match those letters to the correct book.

When looking for books, it's important to remember the following things -
* * All books used in this challenge are shelved as 'Young Adult' higher than 'Adult', 'Middle-Grade', or 'Childrens'.
* * All books used in this challenge have a buddy read thread present on our group - YA Buddy Readers' Corner ♥
If the book you have found does not meet these criteria then it is not the correct book, and if you send it to me, you'll have wasted a guess ☹
Here are some hints, tips, and tricks which might help you during this challenge.
1 - Our group search function, found on the right-hand side of the screen on our group pages -
This could come in very handy when checking if a book has a buddy read thread on our group.
And don't forget, to check that bubble for 'only topics' on the next page, if you're looking for a thread title.
2 - Goodreads shelves can come in handy if you are searching for a specific tag or genre - https://www.goodreads.com/shelf
3 - Google image search - who knew that you'd ever need to search for a picture? Handy though - https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en
4 - Google in general - https://www.google.com/
5 - Searching a specific site using Google. On Google, type in the words you're searching for ( like - Born with a gift ), then after your words, type the following - site:goodreads.com
This isn't limited to Goodreads, you can use this to search other sites too, just type in a different site name. Any site which has books could be helpful.

* Descriptions should be posted every 5 days, on the 1st, 6th, 11th, 16th, 21st, and 25th. I cannot guarantee what time it will be exactly though.

* Answers should be sent via personal message to myself. Please include both the question and answer so I know which task you're completing.
* Please note that answers must be spelled correctly. Otherwise, I might not realise that you have the correct answer.
* Once I have read your message, I will reply to you to let you know how many tasks you have answered correctly. (Please be aware that you may not get a response right away, partly due to time zones, and partly because I will probably have a lot of messages to get through, as well as scores for other challenges ☺)
* If you answer one or more descriptions incorrectly, you do have up to 3 chances to answer correctly, simply send me your second guess, and/or third.
* Answers posted in the thread will be deleted, and the person who posted them disqualified.
* This is a non-reading challenge, you do not need to read anything for this challenge.
* This challenge will end at 00:01 on August 31st 2020, Pacific Time - https://greenwichmeantime.com/time-zo... Answers received after this time will not be counted, so please be sure to send in your answers before this time. Do not worry if you sent your answers in but didn't receive an answer before the end of the challenge. As long as your message is sent before this time, it will count ☺
* Winners for this challenge will be announced on August 31st, which is the day before the results for the overall MMC.

Question: Is it necessary to follow the rounds in order?
Answer: You can do the rounds in any order, so if you haven't got an answer for question 1, you can still send in answers for the other questions ☺

The joy of the NRC. lol. If you look back on previous years you will see participants praying and pulling out their hair and a few spectators enjoying the show with popcorn. It's very dramatic. lol
Found most of them. Only 4th and 15th left. I really want to find all of them today so that I can focus on reading until the next rounds are posted. Fingers crossed!

This will be a non-reading challenge, which will run from August 1st 2020 to August 30th 2020 inclusively. Results will be announced on August 31st 2020.
This challenge will consist of a variety of different non-reading activities, which I'll explain below -
★ Guess The Book - Try to guess which book we're talking about based on the clues given.
★ Cover Trouble - Try to guess which book we're talking about, from the descriptions about its cover.
★ Cover Pieces - Try to find the cover, from looking at a little piece that comes from it.
★ Find That Phrase - Try to find the book based on a tiny phrase from its blurb.
★ Book Wordsearch - Find the hidden title in the Wordsearch.
★ Match The Book - match a list of statements to the characters/books they might represent. One statement to each of the books listed.
★ Title Scramble - Unscramble the words given, to make some hidden book titles.
★ Book Codes - Try to figure out the book, from just the first letters of words in its title, and author name.
* All points earned in this challenge will go towards your total points for the 2020 MMC.
* You may also choose to take part in this challenge, without taking part in any of the other challenges happening this August at YA Buddy Readers' Corner ♥
