They were about this kid named Alfie and the magical garden he inherited somehow. Most of the recurring cast was made up of sentient gardening tools, at some point they had to traverse a swamp I think, that's literally everything I can think of.
I don't know if this kid had parents he just went into a gardening shed and found his sentient tools and maybe he had a magic seed or something but I might be confusing it with something else. Lots of magical plants, strange garden-like environment.
There were pictures.
I probably read these 10-15 years ago, so 2005-2010ish?
