I remember reading this book in the late 90s or early 2000s, around when I was reading all the Baby-sitter's Club books. I definitely read the book in English and I would guess English was its original published language.

I would have sworn up and down this was a Babysitter Club book but I read through pretty much all the descriptions on Goodreads already and none of them sound right. To my recollection, the book is about two girls (cousins I think) who are at a family reunion somewhere. The family's big project for the duration of the reunion is to make a huge family tree with pictures of every family member. Things are going great until they get toward the end and eventually they are missing one person's pictures, I think a great-aunt or grandmother, definitely a woman. SPOILERS AHEAD!

The two girls are sitting out on a wall somewhere (I seem to remember this being a house in the family or something, somehow someone in the family owned/owns the property, so maybe grandparents?) and they notice that one of the bricks/stones in the wall has something (initials maybe?) scratched in it. They remove the rock/stone and find a memory box left behind by this relative whose picture is missing. In the box are letters and, of course, a photograph. The girls are so happy to be able to complete the family tree for the family.

I feel like this could be only a sub-plot to a larger plot but it's stuck with me for years and I can't for the life of me remember the book.
