What are you reading in 2015?
Im re-reading Behind the Scenes at the Museum which i think i must have read nearly 20 years ago. Great book.
I've FINALLY got round to starting American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It's the first time I've read anything of his and am enjoying it so far. I find myself really liking the main character, Shadow, already even though I'm only about 90 pages in!

Just started out with The Giver. My head needs something ligt after Cloud Atlas - it was killing me at the end!
I'm going to start Summer House with Swimming Pool by Herman Koch. Enjoyed his book, The Dinner, so looking forward to getting stuck into this one.
I am in the middle of two books. Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Coast Trail is OK so far. I'm sure you all know her story. I keep picturing Reese Witherspoon since she was Cheryl in the movie version. A woman alone decides to hike the Pacific Coast Trail. The writing is good. She is a messed up girl and the trek is supposed to be soul cleansing. So far no enlightenment has happened. On the other hand I am really enjoying the story ofI Shall Be Near to You. This book is set during the Civil War. It is about a stubborn girl who follows her husband and his friends into war dressed as a man. I won this book from the publisher.
Next up Memory Man
Jellyfish, the new short story collection from award-winning Scottish writer Janice Galloway. I'd love to spread the word about her writing to people in other places. I've been a big fan for many years.
Described as "Razor sharp tales of the most powerful human experiences and a close examination of the everyday."
Excerpts:
A child was dangling over the kerb, the back wheels of his push-chair holding his whole weight, too near the precipice. Water scattered from a passing lorry, sprinkling his jacket-front like glitter. The boy tried to sit up, rocking the buggy, himself within it, over the tarmac abyss. He couldn’t be more than two, Monica thought. Maybe less. The rims of the back wheels, his sole contact with terra firma, were worn; the chair that held him, thin canvas. A juggernaut rounded the corner, changing gear so the pavement groaned, expecting an avalanche. Monica watched the mother blink, draw her face back from the fumes as the words WASH ME slithered past her, close enough to touch. The boy, however, stayed put, the radiator grille as near as dammit tipping his nose, heat haze rippling his face into strips. The rabbit in his hand shook from the tremor rattling down his arms, his skinny little bones. Then the lorry, its lumbering, unimaginable tonnage, was past. Monica coughed. The exhaust at kid’s eye-level. Carbon monoxide. Jesus, she murmured. Holy Mother of God.
One of the short stories is available to read here: http://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/reg...

Just starting The Bookshop That Floated Away. After realising that I have another small heap to return to the library.

I really would like to spend the weekend doing nothing but reading in the garden. Wish me luck, starting with The bell Jar and hope to finish it today.
Currently reading The Best Short Stories of Edgar Allan Poe, having just finished The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes.

Patrick Rothfuss has been on my TBR for ages Roberta. As they are due back to the library on Friday I have to read Robot Uprisings and The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution.

I thought that The Girl with All the Gifts was pretty good overall.

Just started reading Collected Ghost Stories by M.R. James. He's considerd the master of the Victorian ghost story
I am reading Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery as quickly as I can as I have book club on Thursday. I will then return to Dissolution
I am listening to Moriarty.
I am listening to Moriarty.
I'm reading a fantasy, A Darker Shade of Magic. It's got a well thought out plot but somehow im just not becoming involved with the characters.
I finally finished Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming. What an amazing book with 5 years of research into it. It's as if we have to question everything "even" if a scientist says it. It actually makes me kind of sick how so many people can be duped into believing the lies. Here is my review.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am almost finished with The Sociopath Next Door: The Ruthless Versus the Rest of Us and while I don't know any people like that I think it would cover a few of our politicians and war mongers. It is a good book.
After those I needed a lighter read so I started The Stranger by Harlan Coben. It fits the bill although I am confused about who the stranger is. Maybe a new concept

Thought that was pretty good too Lisa. Haven't heard of the second book that you mentioned, but you might enjoy The Psychopath Test

Paul wrote: "I am currently reading Professor Stewart's Incredible Numbers, which isn't exactly light..."No it is not. BTW, how is One Day? I have have that one on my TR list along with a thousand others, lol.
I am reading Keep Your Friends Close, listening to The Murder Bag. The latter is off to a tremendous start, cannot wait to continue listening. The former is rather lacklustre in comparison, but let's see.
Jackie wrote: "Starting Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey today."I loved this book, though if you've experienced a relative with dementia keep some tissues handy.
Joy, not a relative (touch wood) but I have done care work with people suffering from it. Also, a couple of my friends are going through a bit of a difficult time with their parents who have it. I'm almost halfway through and finding it a bit sad already.
starting If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him: The Pilgrimage Of Psychotherapy Patients for the reading challenge, a genre I avoid. It was mentioned in the TV series called Fringe as a book to read to help you understand Walter Bishop. so giving it a go.
Jason, have read reviews and looks interesting. Wouldn't have looked at it via description on Amazon though.
