What are you reading in 2015?
Sophie: ATPH is a great one. The next one in that series, THe Crossing, is probably my favorite. Have a dictionary handy.

All of the Spanish in ATPH threw me slightly as I haven't spoken Spanish since I was at school. Thankfully there are page-by-page translations online which were a godsend. I liked the story once I got into it but it took me a while. I'm not sure I'll rush to read the others just yet but I will get round to it eventually!
Paul wrote: "Reading The Trinity Six at the moment. It is a truly excellent thriller."Ive got A Colder War waiting to be read. Not yet tried any by Charles Cumming.
Joy, I just read A Colder War and I absolutely loved it. That was my first by Mr Cumming, but it definitely won't be the last. I could read them all back to back right now.
Starting Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum today. It has an average rating of just over 4 stars on here so hoping it's going to be a great read.
Just started Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor. Eventually, I'll tackle an anthology of her short stories.

I'm currently reading No Time for Goodbye by Linwood Barclay which is tying me in knots trying to work out the mystery!
I intend to start Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt, if I can avoid the almost unstoppable automatic reflex to pick up A Foreign Country first, that is.
So it's one of those, then the other anyway.
I've also started my next audiobook, A Song for Issy Bradley: A Novel which I just sense is going to be good. Great start anyway.

I'm just about to start Lies Beneath. I've never read a contemporary mermaid novel before so intrigued to find out if it's any good. As it's a gorgeous day out and I'm off work today I think I might spend the day reading in the garden :)
Im reading The Martian, given to us on World Book Night. I'm skipping bits as too much technical detail for me. Also, the stranded hero's remorseless good humour is beginning to grate.
I am listening, or trying to, Three Bags Full. It's almost my first audio book since childhood, when I had some as cassettes, I think. I did try another one earlier but the book didn't interest me enough, I just happened to get it on audio. I'm not sure if this is much more interesting but considering that I won't hear every word, and my mind wanders anyway, it's better that it's not too demanding. It's just rare I can concentrate on listening, there is only so much cleaning one wants to do...I am also still reading Purge and The Lover, both of which I actually like but I haven't been able to give them the time they deserve. (Having both NHL playoffs AND the World Championships going on the same time doesn't really help.)
I also started a historical graphic novel, I haven't really read them either but this is a BC ring book that was offered to me. One of the characters was born in the same village where I am from and he had a big influence on the religious "atmosphere" at the time and the movement he and others started is actually the biggest in the Lutheran church even today, so it's interesting to see the author's view of that. According to the reviews it might not be the same as I have... I have always thought of it as being quite liberal and forgiving, at least compared to many other religious movements, especially at the time. The book also won the Finlandia for graphic novels.
Well I don't drive and don't really iron, either. :D I've tried to listen to them when washing up but my stereos are in another room and I make so much noise, too.
I have to put ear phones in when I'm listening and washing up, or hoovering. Almost makes the chores pleasurable!

Yes! my earphones are nearly worn out. about to steal my daughters new ones when she isn't looking!

I've just started The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I've heard such good things about it I thought it was time I read it.
It's a bit strange so far Paul but I thought that about The Blind Assassin too and ended up liking it.Just off books for a sec, does anyone know why all of a sudden I wouldn't be getting notifications? Anyone else had this problem?
Oh I was kicked out of a group the other day because I dared to ask the moderator if I could be taken off her mailing list. I might point out she sends out an email a day with just waffle on it about her life!
Jason wrote: "Same issue here, I thought maybe Paul had finally kicked me out of the group. :)"
Wouldn't do that Jason.
Wouldn't do that Jason.

Sounds horrendous. We do try and consciously limit the mails going out to two a month. What group was that Jackie?

Never say never... ;-)
Jackie - sounds like best off out probably. Two a month mostly covers it, as Paul says. People don't want constant streams of stuff clogging up their inbox.
Loving Barchester Towers read by Timothy West. Doing a lot of miles in the car at the moment, so it's a great way to pass the long journeys.

It's a group called Psychological Thrillers (I think). Honestly, that was all I asked "please can I opt out of the daily emails" and she said "I'll fix it" and booted me out. Lol. Talk about a little bit of power and all that. It was never about psych thrillers anyway, so no loss! I'm still a bit undecided on this Handmaid's Tale. I'm veering from enjoyment to "meh". About half way through now.
I started Left Neglected by Lisa Genova last night. It is a very good book. It's about a woman who is in an accident and she has a bizarre medical condition called left neglect where nothing on her left side exists to her. I love reading Lisa Genova's books to learn more about different medical conditions.
About a third of the way through Love Minus Eighty at the moment. It is a very odd blend of love story and scifi. Good though.
I'm reading Reconstructing Amelia. It's taking me a bit to get into it, but I've heard from a few people that they didn't get drawn in right away either. I'm buddy reading with my mom Have Mother, Will Travel: A Mother and Daughter Discover Themselves, Each Other, and the World. The authors have a habit of over writing for the subject matter, but some of it is very relatable to all mother/daughter relationships.
Some people really shouldn't be group mods. I was just reading posts a few days ago from mods griping about group members being able to reply to the mass emails & sending them friend requests. All I was thinking was if you don't want to deal with people don't start a group in the first place, or just have a secret group for you, your friends, and no one else.
Other than Jo being mean to me have no complaintsJust started another Tolstoy book The Death of Ivan Ilych really looking forward to this as it is supposed to be very good.
Jason, I believe we may be quits now as you may recall we agreed to differ on whether women were sufficiently qualified to write books.....

Ooo, I bet it is. Charles Cumming is only a new find for me, but I cannot wait to read more of his books.
