In December 2005, Forever Odd was released - a follow up to the very popular Odd Thomas novel from 2003.

We'll feature book two, Forever Odd, during the month of August. Book one, Odd Thomas is our July Group Read. Just in case you get ahead of schedule and can't stop, here's the new 2020 Discussion thread for Forever Odd.

Happy Reading!

Matthew | 183 comments I must confess this is my least favorite of the Odd tales BUT I did enjoy it better my second read-through. I definitely overlooked and/or didn't understand some details when I read it the first time. Am def curious what a 3rd reading will do.

I agree. I'm ready to give the book another try :-)

Matthew | 183 comments 100 pages left to go! Odd just stashed his buddy Danny in an elevator cab where he's hoping Datura (one of my fav Koontz villains and probably the best part of the book) won't find him. Btw…Google the word "datura" and you'll discover just how playful and smart a writer our buddy Dean is. Not that Koontz's talent is a huge revelation for us. :oD

Thanks Matthew for trailblazing the Odd Trail ! Thanks for the Datura tip.
I'll be re-reading Forever Odd soon!

Matthew | 183 comments I have completed Forever Odd...still probably my least favorite of the series but it honestly grows on me a little bit with each reading. This is the Empire Strikes Back or Temple of Doom section of the Odd Thomas series...darker and more brooding than the original. That being said...Datura is an absolutely terrific villain. Her character is the biggest reason I'm disappointed there will never be a movie version of this tale. Hope everyone else's reading is going well!

Matthew (funkygman007) | 24 comments I will provide an opposing Matthew opinion . . . I have not finished the Odd series yet - I still have one or two yet to go - but at this point Forever Odd is still my favorite, followed by Odd Interlude.

Kirstin Viland | 9 comments Just finished - I have to say the added touch of scents to his supernatural "vocabulary" was excellent.
I also wanted to say that agree with all you that Datura was a bomb*** villain. one of my favorite things about Koontz is the realism behind his villains - he gives them that subtle real feeling that makes the character draw you into the book. Yet he also leaves them slightly outside of "real" so that they are definitely the "bad guy."

It's funny, I ALWAYS forget that Dean DOES define the voodoo terms for the reader at the very end of the novel. This is my second complete reading of Forever (started it and laid it aside as a re-read multiple other times) and I always Google search the voodoo terms since I never think they'll get defined for me.

I sure hope I enjoy Forever Odd more this time around :-)
You have good taste with Odd Interlude as a favorite!

Mary (broomemarygmailcom) | 377 comments I have to say this one is my least favorite in the Odd series, probably because it is more horror genre which is one I am not a fan of. It also misses the mark for me on the Koontz humor scale.

Really glad that we are revisiting the series, though. I seem to remember that Brother Odd was a favorite of mine.
I have a few other books to read (plowing though some of my tbr list) AND my son has gotten me started on the I,Robot series by Asimov...Absolutely loved the first one.

Mary (broomemarygmailcom) | 377 comments Hi Dustin, do you think you could go ahead and start the Brother Odd discussion header? I can't believe that I am AHEAD!!!
On the other hand, I had to go back to check the name of this one that I just finished...eek. Need to get something down before it is just a faded or lost memory :-}

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments I didn't like this book the first time around and even less this time. I'm on to reading Brother Odd. I think this was the first Koontz book I didn't like.

I'm a bit behind this month. I'll get the new Discussion Thread for Brother Odd created by this weekend.
I'll also start reading Forever Odd this weekend.

Lori Wendt (loriwendt90) | 4 comments I finished this one ahead of schedule. This didn’t have much interaction with key characters like Lil Ozzie, but it did a good job of setting up for the next one, Brother Odd.

Fred (fredderoche) The end of our September read, one his greatest...

I'm currently reading Forever Odd. Will start Brother Odd When I finish.

Susan Beamon (susanbeamon) | 71 comments I surprised myself. I finished before the end of the month. Just have to get my review up.
