I love Jane's wit and that opening line is a great example.
And if Jane had kept the copyright, there's either be fewer parodies and copies of it or her the descendants of her nieces and nephews would be very, very rich from that one line!

I am absolutely loving my reread so far - every time I reread Pride and Prejudice it's just so amazing <3

So, the idea that Mrs Bennet says they dine with 24 families, meaning to show how many friends they have/how many people of their class there are hereabouts, and Miss Bingley finds it funny because to her mind it's not that many people at all.

Some advice books actually did tell young ladies to refuse at first because no actually means yes eventually!


Which Audio Book Version are you using please? Have never listened to PP in full yet, though I believe Rosamunde Pike version is good. I listened to a part of it sometime ago but never got round to getting it.
