I've been reading fluff. I saw a mention in Audiobook Knitters on Ravelry of a series of cozy mysteries by Nancy Warren. I ripped through # 1 & 2 this weekend and just checked out #3.The Vampire Knitting Club
Stitches and Witches
Crochet and Cauldrons
Star Spangled Scandal about a pretty much forgotten incident in history. Great July 4 read. NY congressman shoots Francis Scott Key's son for "defiling his bed".
I have generally been going for lighter stuff although that can lead me astray with something too light (Red, White & Royal Blue I just finished John Scalzi's latest The Last Emperox. My book club chose American Dirt which is a bit heavy for my taste right now but I'm working through it as the writing is good so far.
Knocked out the more thought-provoking/serious books earlier in the week so I could read more light books over the holiday weekend. Recently finished: The Future of Feeling: Building Empathy in a Tech-Obsessed World, How to be an Antiracist, and Uncanny Valley. And for this weekend I'm reading the new Kevin Kwan book - Sex & Vanity, and plan to start Brit Bennet's The Vanishing Half.
I usually read lighter things in the summer but someone recommended The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and I'm a few chapters in, but I'm definitely going to check out some of the other books mentioned above, especially the new Kevin Kwan!
