Buddy Read - Sherlock Holmes

This is one of the best of the SH's series so far . A must read ! I agree with Sehrish - full 5 stars surely ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I shall update my views tomorrow.
Oh by the way, I just saw the case of dancing men on Tatasky Hits. It’s was so refreshing and fascinating to see the actual Sherlock. Not the made up modernised version. I found a few inconsistencies with the characterisation in the TV version but more in that later. You both do watch it once it was really good. I haven’t seen the one on Netflix so cannot compare.
Goodnight.

I shall update my views tomorrow.
Oh by the way, I just saw the case of dancing men ..."
Please take your time , Kirti . You started out much later than us . No problem !
Will try to see The case of the dancing men on the TV or on my tablet . I hope Sherlock and Dr Watson are as I imagine them to be !
🤔

@Kirti. Have fun and take your sweet time finishing this one, it's amazing. We'll continue once everyone is done

I am done with the book and I agree with the 5-star ratings.
Such a captivating beautiful narration. No wonder why Sherlock Holmes is famous. I think the credit doesn't go to the genius of Holmes but to the maker of such human himself, the author.

I think this was the best one so far? What do you pretty ladies say?

Definitely this is the best case so far !
So , folks , shall we begin with Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes tomorrow ? - Silver Blaze ?

I can start in like 2 days.

I agree , too , that the friendship between SH and Dr Watson is really enviable . They complement each other so perfectly ! But , ( sigh ! ) , I wish such a genuine friendship was to be found more easily in this rough and tumble world of ours 🤔 !
I think I'll start Silver Blaze tomorrow . I'm a slow reader , so you'll catch up easily !
What about you, Kirti ?

But funny how it is all a game of perspective. A bad experience or mood makes us see the world in a pessimistic way and similarly the other way around.
And I think it doesn't stop at just friendship. I was just thinking about this yesterday that how fiction satisfies our emotional needs. Rather how we use fiction (books) to feel or experience something we don't in reality. How we satisfy ourselves reading about friendship of Sherlock and Watson while feeling lonely in real life. Or how we indulge ourselves in the fantasy of Harry Potter or mysteries of Sherlock to nullify the uneventful, antisocial life.
These are just my personal views. May not be applicable to others.
But that is why I am here. I started this thread so that I push myself to read more and to find like minded people to interact with having shunned social media.
About the next one, I can start today or tomorrow.
To be honest after this Sherlock spree, I started watching the series the day before yesterday on Netflix. The one with Benedict Cumberbatch. And as I had mentioned i happened to catch the older version on TV the other day. While i had presumed the series could be no where near the books, albeit a modernized and amalgamated version but the series was extremely interesting and entertaining. I might dare say that the modern characterization of Sherlock is more aligning to the books than the older version.
So I think you both will like it. Do watch it. A couple of stories have been altered but they are really very fascinating. To intrigue you guys more, there's Irene Adler in the second season first episode, the woman who beats Sherlock and the woman whom Sherlock adored.
I can start the next one anytime. Let me know when do we start. We can wait for you Sehrish.

As far as real friendship is concerned , it may be rare , but not non existent ! And where it happens , it brings Heaven down to earth ! But I'm not belittling other varieties of friendships . Compromises and adjustments are a must in life . Lovely flowers can bloom on harder soils also . Requires patience and effort , like in most things in life .
I think Sehrish is beginning Silver Blaze tomorrow . I''ve already begun it .

It's a simple but interesting case which I enjoyed reading , but didn't require much deduction . The ending was superb and I loved it ! (view spoiler) Lovely ! That's the way it should be ! 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ !
I'm beginning the next case in my attempt to keep up / stay ahead of you two . Hope you don't mind ? 🙂

I've finished The Musgrave Ritual . It was interesting with good deduction by Sherlock Holmes . 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

1. Silver Blaze: This one was a short but great case.. Karma had its own way of treating the culprit.. I liked that.. Poor John Starker though, money makes people do such great crimes.. His death was too tragic but I guess he deserved it.. He was hurting animals which is something that puts me off so much.. I hate it when people are inhuman towards animals. SH's deduction skills are once again commendable.. He finds clues in such weird things which are beyond a normal mind.. The bill, the candle, the knife.. 😂 I enjoyed this case.
2. The Yellow Face: Oh my god.. This one was so endearing.. The little girl and her mother.. I laughed out loud when I finally learned that Grant Munro was fretting over nothing.. Poor Effie loved her husband so much that she stated away from her child for so long.. I wonder what the situation may have been during those times concerned with racism.. Effie was worried about her marriage but she was also afraid that her child is black.. I loved it when Grant politely walked away with the girl and his wife.. Love always finds a way to blossom!! 💖
3. The Stock-Broker's Clerk: this was an okayish case.. The instance Pinner came out of nowhere and made a job offer for nothing in return, I was suspicious... No one does anything good to a stranger without having a personal benefit.. Although a murder had taken it too far! I am glad that Pycroft wasn't hurt.. Poor thing!

And @Savita, I agree with your comments regarding these cases too..
4. The Gloria-Scott: This wasn't a very great case.. But it was interesting to know how SH started his deduction skills at a very young age.. I didn't know that SH had another close friend so long ago.. I assumed Watson was the only one so close to him.. It was good to know a little about SH's past friendship..
5. The Musgrave Ritual: This case was so good, such an intriguing story.. How the secrets are carried down the family.. What if someone had cracked it earlier.. Poor butler would be alive.. I don't think he meant any harm to the family itself but the way he misused the maid was unforgivable.. I feel sad for her but she was disheartened and needed a revenge..
6. The Reigate Puzzle: This was a very okay okay case.. I didn't particularly enjoy this one.. But there was a complete new deduction skill of hand-writing analysis that was brought into picture by SH... Also, I am glad SH is safe.. The way the father-son duo lunged on him, it scared me..

I read your comments . Most of all I loved the way you said , " Love always finds a way to blossom 💖 !! " True ! It was really a sweet story !
I'm reading The Crooked Man . I think you'll soon catch up 🙂

This one was a very simple case.. Although had an incomplete story from the past.. Justice was finally made even though it took more than 30yrs.. What goes around comes around..

The Naval Treaty: What a case this was.. I really liked Phelps and was sad to see his condition, being sick for so long and worried over a crime he was just a pawn in.. The documents were so precious that he kept thinking himself as a criminal.. I hated Joseph.. He was like a double faced snake.. He have shelter and support to Phelps and all the while causing him sickness and worry!
The Final Problem: Here he is Moriarty.. I have been thinking why he hasn't appeared in any of the SH books yet.. I have seen him in the Netflix series.. he is a super villain almost as good as SH.. I really liked this final chapter but I wished there was more about Moriarty for us readers.. Someone who has completely Shakeb SH to the core.. I'd love to read about this super villain more in the coming books hopefully.. I am just worried about SH now.. I hope he is safe and that he didn't have to bargain his life to Moriarty!
The author's work is highly commendable!! What a wonderful experience this has been!!

SH ' s rating is a 10 star 🌟 thing - agreed Sehrish ! He's so intelligent , keenly observant , hardworking and passionate about his work ! Thank God he chose to be on the right side of the law !

Ì'll be finishing The Greek Interpreter soon . I was struck by the description of the captor's eyes : (view spoiler)
The author's language is so powerful and vivd !

4 great ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Couldn't agree more @Savita.. The vivid descriptions of Sir Arthur are the best things.. the landscapes too specially in The Hound of Baskervilles.

An exciting 4.5 stars !

How I would like to see Prof Moriarty on screen !
5 subdued stars for this one . ✡✡✡✡✡
