Well she's on a roll with Noah Webster right now so I'll bet that's it!

She'll know why.

message 6458: by Joanna (new)

Joanna In which case...the only two books I can think of by Noah Webster are the Dictionary and Blueback Speller. Though how that would help one cope with depression is beyond me! πŸ˜‚

message 6462: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 2209 comments Mark Twain and Emily Dickinson both suffered from depression. I don't know which one is the correct answer (if any), so I'll have to think about it.

Lily Rose Dorothea | 1454 comments Recap:
This author wrote two books as therapy for his "depression, anxiety, and nervous affectations." Who was it, and what were the books?

Meg: Mark Twain, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer & The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Or Herman Melville. Longfellow, Henry Wadsworth? OR Noah Webster!!! BET IT'S HIM, BUT I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW HIS BOOKS COULD HELP DEPRESSION!!! But has yet to commit to one!
Allyson: Nathaniel HawthorneπŸ™„πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈDid he have depression?!
Pammy Jo: Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court and Pudd'nhead Wilson
Everyone else: 🌳πŸͺ“

message 6465: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 2209 comments I have decided to go with Mark Twain as my answer. I know he was deeply depressed later in life, so I'll say the books were later works by Twain. "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" and "Pudd'nhead Wilson" are my answers.

The Houston area was spared! The news channels said the hurricane hooked into Louisiana and missed Houston, but the poor residents in Louisiana were hit by a 20' high wall of water from the storm surge. I have been praying for them. So many terrible events, catastrophic really, have been tearing our nation apart. Sad and scary times we are living in! πŸ˜ͺπŸ™

Please girls...behave yourselves! This name calling and disagreeing must stop or the teacher will put you in the corner chair. I will also be forced to notify parents and have them sign a behavior report form!πŸ€πŸ€«πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ€—
