Steven Tackett | 66 comments You got it... Ender's Game was a great book, as was it's sequel Ender in Exile... I read the Bean series... which was the four books on the other side of ender's story... never did get around to reading the speaker of the dead/hedgemon/children books (sorry... this post came late)

Steven > I read only Ender's Game, Speaker and Xenocide. I really like how deep Card's stories are. I'm adding Ender in Exile in my to-read ;)

Adriana > yes :)

message 55: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) I got too much excited because I didn't get AT ALL the first time I read the summary :P

This one is about two young stage magicians that, after a tragic incident, become rivals, trying to outsmart and expose each others tricks.

message 56: by Steven (new)

Steven Tackett | 66 comments If it's what I am thinking of, there was a movie that was based off of that. Good movie. Didn't realize they made a book of it.

message 57: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) Yes, there's a movie based on this book! I love both the book and movie.

message 58: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 28 comments The Prestige? I haven't read it, but I watched the movie (sorry!)

message 59: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) Yes, you got it! You should read the book, if you enjoyed the movie! This was one of the rare cases in which I saw the movie first and then read the book :)

message 60: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 28 comments I was thinking I'll have to add it to my list, because I really did like the movie!
Hmm. I have a feeling I'm going to be terrible at this but I'll try.
A book about the 'forgotten' sister, who had an affair with a king, before her sister marries him.

message 61: by Lou (new)

Lou LaJeunesse | 45 comments Would that be The Other Boelyn

message 62: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 28 comments Yup! Loved that book :)

message 63: by Lou (new)

Lou LaJeunesse | 45 comments Next A book and a movie an older one A young girl is abandoned in a remote area wth a relative then used for monetary gain. She finally gets back to where she had been abandoned to enjoy life and a sense of belonging.

No idea and it seems I'm not alone :D
Can we have a hint? :)

message 65: by Lou (new)

Lou LaJeunesse | 45 comments Mean and nasty aunt kind old grandfather and friend Peter.

message 66: by Lou (new)

Lou LaJeunesse | 45 comments LOL OOh this is making me feel old oh so old.

message 67: by Zaz, Mood Minion (new)

Zaz | 1387 comments Mod
Don't be, some books are easier to find than others :)
The summary is ringing some bells for me, but A Little Princess didn't seem to fit with the family thing. So I looked at Pollyanna because of the aunt. And ended with Heidi who has a aunt, a grandfather and a Peter :p
I think I did the tour of the animated series with young girls from my childhood :D

message 68: by misplacedselchie (new)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments Yeah I completely drew a blank on that one lol

message 69: by Lou (new)

Lou LaJeunesse | 45 comments Heidi is correct Zaz. You're it now!

message 70: by Zaz, Mood Minion (new)

Zaz | 1387 comments Mod
Wow, I wasn't sure :)

Okay. Easy one, so short and obscur summary :p
It's the story of a boy. He lives in a city with many rules but no love.

message 71: by Jenni (new)

Jenni Kemling | 65 comments Is it The Giver?

message 72: by Zaz, Mood Minion (new)

Zaz | 1387 comments Mod
Yes :)
It's your turn!

message 73: by misplacedselchie (new)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments Wow, I was drawing a blank and now I am face palming

message 74: by Jenni (new)

Jenni Kemling | 65 comments So this is a book about two different groups of people in society, those who have money and those who do not. An altercation occurs between the main character (who has a very unusual name) and a friend who does not have money and are from the poor part of town and those in high society who do have money. The story then follows the journey of this character trying to escape the actions of him and his friend, but ends up returning home to his two brothers in the end.

message 75: by misplacedselchie (new)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments The Outsiders?

message 76: by Jenni (new)

Jenni Kemling | 65 comments Yep! It's my favorite book of all time!

message 77: by misplacedselchie (new)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments I like that one too, and the movie :)

Okay, I'll try to not do another obscure one lol.

A young girl cuts off her hair and takes her brother's place to become a knight while he goes and studies to be a wizard.

message 78: by Amy (new)

Amy Poe Lora wrote: A young girl cuts off her hair and takes her brother's place to become a knight while he goes and studies t..."

Alanna : the first adventure by Tamora Pierce.

message 79: by misplacedselchie (new)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments You got it Amy! Love those books! It is now your turn :)

message 80: by Amy (new)

Amy Poe Yeah, I loved that series too.

Okay, a baker at a small time diner is kidnapped, dressed in a red ballgown, and chained in a room with a starving vampire.

message 81: by Zaz, Mood Minion (new)

Zaz | 1387 comments Mod
Twilight!!!

Ok, I know where is the door, don't hit me :p

message 82: by misplacedselchie (new)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments My mind first went to the Sookie Stackhouse novels but she wasn't really a baker and I don't think she got chained in with a starving vampire. Hmmm....

Lol Zaz, you make me giggle :)

message 83: by Amy (new)

Amy Poe Sorry, not Sookie or the sparkly ones. :-) This is a standalone book that is set in a world where everyone knows about the Others because of the Voodoo wars.

Another hint would be the author won the Newbery award for one of her books (not this one).

message 84: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 28 comments Sunshine by Robin McKinley?

message 85: by Amy (new)

Amy Poe Gold star goes to Kayla. It is indeed Sunshine by Robin McKinley. Your turn, Kayla. :-)

message 86: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 28 comments Hm. A retired military man goes back to Vietnam to investigate an old case, on the pretense of vacationing, where he learns that not everything was as it seemed.

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

this is a great topic, i love it! i'm loving seeing these short & sweet summaries that get to the heart of the matter so fast. for example, despite seeing "Brave New World" on thrift shop shelves for years and years, I actually had no idea what it was about, and since it always looks so imposing, I have never even tried it. But with the short summary I saw here, I can tell it is quite the sort of book I usually enjoy, so now I'm inspired. Thanks! :-)

message 88: by Zaz, Mood Minion (new)

Zaz | 1387 comments Mod
Great Karbyn :) I read Brave New World several times, it's an interesting book (I like old sci-fi because you see how some people imagined the future which is our past/present now).

Kayla > I think we need a hint. Your summary is pretty complete, but the book is obviously not in our comfort zone :)

message 89: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 28 comments John Travolta played the main character-albeit in the movie adaptation of a different book. The old case was a death that occurred during the war, but is now considered to be possibly a murder.
Sorry, not very good at this.

message 90: by Amy (new)

Amy Poe Kayla, would it be Up Country by Nelson DeMille?

message 91: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 28 comments Yes! :)

message 92: by Amy (new)

Amy Poe Cool. Okay how about: An innocent man escapes prison by switching places with a corpse in a body bag that is flung over a cliff into the water below. Once on shore, he begins to enact his plans for revenge against those that betrayed him.

message 93: by Amy (new)

Amy Poe Correct, Niki. You're up. :)

message 94: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) can we get a little hint of some kind? This does not sound familiar to me at all.

message 95: by Michelle (last edited Jan 19, 2015 01:21AM) (new)

Michelle Winchester On the Road? Although it doesn't fit perfectly, so probably not :)

message 96: by Zaz, Mood Minion (new)

Zaz | 1387 comments Mod
Jade, can you give us the next summary? :)

message 97: by Michelle (last edited Jan 22, 2015 10:35AM) (new)

Michelle Winchester Sorry, missed the first response :).

My summary: A discredited journalist and a legally incapable genius are trying to solve a murder that turns out to not be a murder after all.

message 98: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Day (nikkiday) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

message 99: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Winchester Nikki wrote: "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?"

Yes :).

message 100: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Day (nikkiday) Alright, my summary:

Two struggling Australian families come to live together in one big house.

Sorry if this is vague, just ask if you want a clue!
