I read these books from the library in the mid 80s, could have been published in the 70s. The main character is a 10-13yo boy who uses science to solve various problems or mysteries. He might have had a girl sidekick. Each chapter was a new problem, usually, similar to Encyclopedia Brown or Cam Jansen books. I feel like he shared a name with a famous scientist (Newton? Einstein?) but not sure. I remember the covers being white.

Nope, definitely not this. But good suggestion to investigate (looking for stuff for my 8yo to read).
Danny Dunn? Danny Dunn and the Anti-Gravity Paint is the first in the series. Might be more science fiction than mystery, though.
Ha, my brother just came through with the answer. It was a series that started with “Einstein Anderson, Science Sleuth”, published 1980.
Haha, I was just slightly too late!Einstein Anderson, Science Sleuth for the one you mentioned.
I think the one I linked to above was a reboot.
