Truman is rescued by a teen named Ollie who then takes him to safety in his home deep in the woods. He’s now going to stay with Truman and acclimate to life in a community. How do you think this will work? Will he stay or gravitate back to his own habitat?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) I'm sure Truman will now be Ollie's mentor much the same as Mercy is for Kaylie.

I'm wondering if down the track Kaylie and Ollie will get together.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments Truman is going to be a father or big brother figure for Ollie. He recognizes that Ollie is smart and has skills that will help him establish a career.

I don't see Kaylie and Ollie in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. I suspect they will be more like siblings. Kaylie is going to help Ollie fit in with people their own age.

The four of them, and their animals will be an interesting family.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) On reflection I think you're right Sharon.

Kaylie and Ollie will be like step siblings. (Ones that actually get on )

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I agree. Truman is going to take Ollie and help him get established in his new life. Kaylie can help him fit with his age group. Ollie will also help Mercy with prepping the new cabin for TEOTWAWKI. He's lived on his own for a long time and may know some tricks that she doesn't.

I thought the author put in a little hint that she might bring Ollie and Kaylie together romantically. Apparently, she’s put Cody in the friend zone and seemed intrigued by Ollie. I won’t be surprised at that direction but it could be problematic given that Mercy and Truman will be living together.

Ollie should have major issues acclimating as the adjustments he has to make are significant. Just being among a lot of people is new to him, let alone all the technology. He has a lot to learn but Truman’s acknowledgement to him that he helped save his life when he fell into the river will forever bond them.

Robin, I hadn’t thought about Ollie’s connecting to Mercy that way! That’s perfect and he might just help build that cabin...and stay there.

I loved Ollie! What a brave, resourceful, smart young man! And I had to laugh at the fact that he'd been stealing food & supplies right out from under the noses of this group. I loved the connection formed between him & Truman and the fact that when he said he was heading back to his home, Truman stepped in and said no, you're staying with me awhile. Perfect! I actually wondered about a future romance between him & Kaylie for the same reason Jonetta mentioned - the author seems to be putting Cody in the friend-zone when it comes to Kaylie. I wondered if Ollie will be filling the romantic role in the future. I absolutely think he will be involved with the rebuilding of the cabin, etc.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments ... a lot of the above! I don't right now think Ollie will be romance material any time soon, but perhaps Cody is moving out from under the first-love halo for Kaylie, too.

New characters can be incorporated very well, as we've already seen in this series.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Kendra Elliot does like to move her characters between her series. In the last book we saw Ava, the photographer guy Brody and the forensic Doctor in this book is from a previous series as well.

Just a thought, maybe we will see a more mature Kaylie and Ollie in a future series.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Good point, Lisa. Both Lacey Harper and Dr. Peres were in Elliot's first book HIDDEN. It's always a surprise when a character from one series jumps into another series. I guess that's why I usually try to read books in the order that the author wrote them regardless of series.
