Anyone know of any other books with the protagonist being chubby/overweight/insecure about weight etc.

anthea I relate so much to Eleanor and was wondering if there were any other books that had a not-super-skinny-amazing-body-and-beautiful-face- kind of protagonist.

In every book I read, the main character is always so uncharacteristically beautiful, she never notices it, but has plenty of guys liking her and blah blah.

No, I want something a bit more realistic. I mean, I'm not ugly. I have a boyfriend, blah blah, but when I was younger I wasn't a hidden beauty so to speak.

You know?

I was totally going to recommend that one! Great in audible as well!

Was also going to recommend this. This book is a great and interesting read. Currently reading it now.

Abigail Actually, Uglies is about a society where everyone starts out as a normal looking person (Ugly) and gets plastic surgery on a certain birthday (16? 18? Can't remember) and become a "Pretty". Then certain people get genetic modifications to make them "Specials". But no one in the quartet, even when "Ugly" is described as being overly large. Very good series though.

Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld Pretties (Uglies, #2) by Scott Westerfeld Specials (Uglies, #3) by Scott Westerfeld Extras (Uglies, #4) by Scott Westerfeld

anthea Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm leaning towards 'Get well soon' and 'Looks' to start off with I think.

I've read most of the Uglies series, and ergh did not like it at all and definitely not what I'm looking for.

I want something more like mental illness caused by weight issues.

And now that I think of it, really anything to do with mental illness I guess, but with weight issues is just a bonus!

Tiffany Fat Angie

anthea Thanks for everyone's responses! Defo checking some of these books out!

Another slightly different type, about a girl who's curvy/bigger but is proud and confident about it? Do those even exist? If not, I'll write one.

Julia Models don't eat chocolate cookies by Erin Dione

Caitlin 45 Pounds is a good one about a bigger girl trying to lose weight while going through high school.

Caitlin Top Ten Clues You're Clueless is about a girl with diabetes.

Gunjan (NerdyBirdie) This probably has nothing to do with the same kind of story of Eleanor and Park, but it is one in mind. Umm, it's a fantasy series with the first book being The Girl of Fire and Thorns and the main character, Elisa, is overweight and highly insecure. But she loses her weight by the end. That's the closest thing I know, unfortunately. :)

Andrea Tomé I think the female protagonist of the Lux saga (Obsidian is the first book) was more on the heavier side, and she made a few comments about it, although she was more confident/accepting that not about it

Read On! Fat Chance, by Nick Spalding, is a comedy about a seriously overweight
married couple, where the wife is the protagonist who forces herself and her husband to enter a competition at her work place, against approximately 12 other couples who all have to loose as much weight as possible in a set amount of days. Whoever looses the most weight wins 50 grand...

Read On! I know it's not literature but for a film where the fat girl get's it all in the end, is Hairspray lol.
