Liz (liz_the_librarian) Welcome to the 2015 52 Book Pickup from the Chesapeake Public Library! Welcome back to everyone who has been with us for awhile, and Hello to anyone who is just joining our goodreads community! I am Liz Steyer, and I will be your host/moderator/friend/whatever you need me to be. I work at the Central Library in Chesapeake, though I'm the Digital Services Librarian for the entire system.

This is the second year CPL is doing this challenge, and here's how it'll work:
- Every week a thread will be posted here. Sometimes we just talk about what we're reading. Other times, I'll provide a prompt for anyone who would like to participate.
- Books have to be logged on our website for them to count. Because the program we use is still in use from the 2014 challenge (need to draw winners), you will have to wait until January 18 to officially sign up for the 2015 challenge. But be sure to keep track of your books til then!
- Feel free to add topics to the discussion board. If you read a really great book you think everyone should experience, you can add it to the group's bookshelves.
- Questions? Leave them here, call 757.410.7138 or email esteyer@infopeake.org.

Without further ado, week one's question: What book are you most looking forward to in 2015?

I cannot wait for Ernest Cline's new book Armada, which is coming out in June. I am a huge fan of Ready Player One and nerdy science fiction, so I'm on the edge of my seat for this one.
Armada by Ernest Cline

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments I couldn't think of any off the top of my head, so I went to my favorite website (StopYoureKillingMe.com) and found a few:
A Fine Summer’s Day [Ian Rutledge #17] by Charles Todd
Dreaming Spies [Mary Russell #14] by Laurie R. King
Obsession in Death [Eve Dallas #40] by J.D. Robb
The Patriot Threat [Cotton Malon #10] by Steve Berry
The Angel Court Affair [Thomas and Charlotte Pitt #30] by Anne Perry
A Dangerous Place [Maisie Dobbs #11] by Jacqueline Winspear
Eighth Grave After Dark [Charley Davidson #8] by Darynda Jones
14th Deadly Sin [Women’s Murder Club #14] by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro
Lord of the Wings [Meg Langslow #19] by Donna Andrews
Murder on Amsterdam Avenue [Gaslight #17] by Victoria Thompson
a few of them are in series where I will have to get caught up first, but all of them are in series I enjoy reading (and rereading).
A Fine Summer's Day (Inspector Ian Rutledge, #17) by Charles Todd Dreaming Spies (Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes #13) by Laurie R. King Obsession in Death (In Death, #40) by J.D. Thanks for the website suggestion, Ann!

I am definitely looking forward to reading Murder on Amsterdam Avenue by Victoria Thompson.

Abbey | 2 comments I am excited for Solitude Creek. I'm a huge Jeffrey Deaver, caught up on the Lincoln Rhyme Series, (well, all but the last one), so I can't wait to catch up on the Katthryn Dance Series. Solitude Creek (Kathryn Dance, #4) by Jeffery Deaver

Would it be weird if I said I am looking forward to serendipitously finding new 2015 books to read at the library? I really don't have any series I am reading with new books coming out, but I am excited to see what new books show up on the carts and to perhaps find a new favorite!

I don't think that's weird at all. A lot of people choose their reads by simply browsing at the library or bookstore. And the new carts/shelves at the library will most definitely have some books that will end up on "Best of" Lists by the end of the year.

Julie | 130 comments I got a couple of new books for Christmas that I'm eager to start reading:
As You Wish Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes , and Jesus Calling Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young . I'm going to purchase Two Renegade Realms by Donita K. Paul to rea soon as well because she has become one of my favorite authors and it is the second book in her newest series.

I'm sure there are other books that I'm looking forward to, but many of them are books that I haven't gotten around to reading yet, not even books that are coming out this year.

Armada sounds like something I'd enjoy based on how much I enjoyed Ready Player One! Thanks for that Liz, I put it on my to read list.

I read "As You Wish" a couple weeks ago and thought it was wonderful. You get a whole new appreciation for the movie when you know what went on behind the scenes. I hope you enjoy it!

Amanda Inkenbrandt (amandagayle726) | 4 comments I'm really excited for several titles:

The Heir (The Selection, #4) by Kiera Cass Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen The Winner's Crime (The Winner's Trilogy, #2) by Marie Rutkoski

I know there are more that I'm excited about, but these are the three that leap to mind immediately. And the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions that just got announced. I need those immediately. Haha. :)
