Maybe the Little Wolf books by Ian Whybrow? Little Wolf's Haunted Hall for Small Horrors seems to be Halloween-y.

I remember reading this book when I was in middle school. Since I went to middle school sometime in the mid 2000's, the book might have came out in that general time frame. It might have also been an older book from an earlier release date. The homeroom I read the book in had books dating all the way back from the 60's/70's, or the 80's and 90's.
The book had a main character who was an adventurous young wolf. He wanted to become famous and go on wild adventures to escape the boredom of his regular life. He brought along his friend who is generally the more mature one out of the two of them. The ending of the first book has him outwit a particularly notorious bandit/thief/pirate who had a lot of treasure along with a big hideout. This culminates with the villain causing his own demise (not sure if he does actually die, or if he is already dead and its his ghost that the hero deals with).
The sequel deals with the hero wolf child going on another adventure. The friend character at some point leaves the hero behind but goes back to save him from a blizzard. Either that, or he travels through a blizzard to get to his friend. He accomplishes this by way of a snowmobile type machine. He gets this from someone in their town, or from a friendly stranger he finds on the way to finding his friend.
The sequel also has Halloween in it, or some other similar stand-in if the name Halloween isn't used. The hero shows this to some type of monsters/ghosts/ghouls/critters.
