Team Murder on the Orient Express
I'm so happy I can finally plan books - I've been getting quite anxious about not knowing what I need to read/finish before my holiday and what books to bring/stock my Kindle with...
im reading a Q book right now and i can wait to finish it until after the next round starts if you think we are good for this round. also if anyone has book recs specifically with authors whose first or last names start with U i'd love to hear them. i need a U author for another challenge but don't have one on my tbr :(

I can only think of John Updike and Leon Uris right now.
And Umberto Eco.
Maryjane Davidson's Undead series books all start with U. Most of the book are available on audible escape, not sure about KU. The ones I didn't listen to on audible escape I was able to get from RB Digital.

I read Speak No Evil by Uzodinma Iweala a couple years ago - it was really good but very heavy.
@judy - speak no evil looks very good but yeah also very heavy, i might give it a try and see if i'm in the right headspace for it though@melindam - i will definitely check out those authors, thanks :)
Ora wrote: "I was looking at freedom books. Pachinko is tagged Freedom"That's good to know!
And from flipping through it I think there's a B character in there
I can read/listen to A God In Ruins which has a character named Ursula Todd. I was saving it for a U.
Hello Team Murder! Or actually, for the purposes of my popping over, Team Orient!
Team Fridge have got snorkelling next round, and I was hoping that you guys would have some recommendations for books meeting the Asia tag! Ideally by indigenous authors - I'm looking to increase the diversity of my reading - but mainly just great books that you loved. Obviously it doesn't have to be books that you've read for the tag, and I'm not expecting you to check if the tag actually exists, but books that ought to meet the Asia tag would be perfect!
Thanks!
Cat
PS I'll stalk your thread for answers, or you could pop over to the Fridge: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Hi Cat! Nice to see you pop by. :)For starters, I can recommend Tai Pan by James Clavell & Ora read "Cinder" by Marissa Meyer that definitely works for Asia. And both of them are good to boost the page count. ;)
As for books indigenous authors, there's "Sarong Party Girls" I would recommend, even though I didn't read it for the wheel challenge as well as "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan

DEADLINE FOR ROUND 3 CHECK-IN: Friday, 6pm CET
How's your reading going in general? Have you found any new favorite books?
Pretty good. I fell in love with a few books all over again and found some new loves. Any particular letters your looking for right now or should I ask tomorrow evening. I can always find a short book Thursday night/Friday morning.
Hi Ora, just read whatever you feel like that would work for any letters in snorkelling. We can move books around if necessary.

If anyone likes science fiction- Ursula Le Guin would work for U. I may listen to one of her books and see. She gets high praise from other readers I trust.
Just realized two books I was hoping to finish for round 3 has B character so I will hold off to read for round 4. Now I just need to figure out what to read after I finish my current book.
Can I get a page count adjustment for Girl at Heart? Goodreads has it at 186 pages For kindle edition while the amazon page for the kindle edition has it at 264 pages.

Good morning, Lovelies!Another U-book recommendation from me if you like retellings, especially Pride and Prejudice-retellings, this is a very enjoyable one. The audiobook is read by the author herself - great listening experience.
Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal. P&P in Pakistan
Maddy wrote: "Sounds good :)"Yes, it's a lot of fun and works very well in the different, Muslim-Punjab background. And all that gorgeous food mentioned in the book... made me drool. :D
