Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Bernadette,

Can you verify that the version you have shelved for Our Souls at Night is the correct version? The page count is different than the one you listed on our SS. For now, I am using your shelved version.

I updated it. I used at hardcopy version for the pages when I entered it into the SS.

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Susan,

Please add your completed books to your wheelathon folder.

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Stacey, I am assuming that you are waiting until you have all of your participation links before shelving Five Feet Apart.

message 205: by Donna (last edited Jun 22, 2020 03:36PM) (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments I have most of the books entered. There are a few that are not on shelves and one read by someone NOT on our team. LOL! Guess she wanted to be on our team.

EDIT: Nope, that is the author. Who read One of Us Is Next?

Actually, I just forgot. :) I'll have the second link ready later this pm.

Tammie | 4553 comments I'll put this at the beginning of our team threads in post #8
...but here is the countdown for this leg...3 days and counting!
Round 1 Countdown Friday-5 PM, eastern in U.S.

Thank you. I didn't realize that they weren't spinning until the round was over. I thought we would have some time to "plan."

They usually give us a bit of ahead time. Not sure about this round...we'll know here soon. Keep checking in :)

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments Amber wrote: "They posted the words for round 2. Our next word is Sea Kayaking."

A lot of the same letters as this round so if someone isn’t able to finish a book it should be easy to move it to the next round

Tammie | 4553 comments Amber wrote: "They posted the words for round 2. Our next word is Sea Kayaking."

Not bad...'y' will be hard to come by with characters so we'll need titles/authors. My guess at least 6 or 7. Lots of 'a'...but that should't be too bad.

Donna will start working on the SS soon I'm sure.

Question - Do books for Round 2 need to be started when Round 2 starts? Or can we carryover Round 1 books started but not completed by the end of Round 1?

You can carry over books started but not finished. The only thing they said they didn't want was banking books (so no carrying over already finished books).

“read date” is what counts, not the day you start.

message 219: by Triathlete_Reads (new)

Triathlete_Reads | 64 comments I'm currently camping I might need a little help with the SS all the info are already there but maybe I'll need someone to mark it as read on the ss. (not done yet)

Round 2, I have 4 books in my 2020tbr that would work for the Y with the Author and I should be able to read 2 of them.

message 220: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments I updated the books lists for genre searches for those interested...see SS tab

message 221: by Sadie (new)

Sadie (raquitica) | 26 comments I am currently working on Inside the Hotel Rwanda: The Surprising True Story ... and Why It Matters Today. Will try to finish by the 26th!

message 222: by Leana (new)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments I finished Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America and am currently reading Year One - will do my best to get it finished before the 26th.

I'm also reading Attack on Titan, Vol. 3 but I'm assuming that doesn't count towards the challenge? There's no mention of manga and it doesn't come up on AR reader searches for word counts.

message 223: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments Sadly, I don't think I'm going to to get my fourth book, the Glass Castle, finished. I think it's on line 40 of the SS. I can luckily use it for the next word. I'm going to try to get it done but it might be better to put a completed book in that space instead. It's in the "G" spot.

message 224: by Tammie (last edited Jun 24, 2020 05:54AM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments description
It's Wednesday...time for us to get our decisions made for Round 1 on books we're going to finish.

@ALL/Keli - If you have a book on the SS that you will NOT finish for this round, go ahead and take it off Round 1 and move it to Round 2. Just leave the space blank vs trying to move things around.

@ALL/Susan - Please make sure your books are on your 'wheel' shelf.

@ALL...if you are not able to get to the SS, just post your completion here. We must have the correct version so the page numbers align...AND we need to know which 'task' it works for.

Be sure you have your personal list updated as you can only use the tasks 1 time. ie. I've put a highlighted line across mine in the round color so I don't mistakenly move things around/miss something.

Thanks everyone!

message 225: by Shannon (new)

Shannon O'Flynn | 630 comments Just a reminder that books must be at least 160 pages in length or verified with at least 40,000 words (by arbookfinder.com or arbookfinder.co.uk) or have an audio edition that is at least 5 hours long

message 226: by Vivi (last edited Jun 24, 2020 07:55AM) (new)

Vivi | 156 comments Hi team, I'm focusing on finishing Five Feet Apart. I think I'll finish it today (or tomorrow).

Afterwards, I will try to finish Play before the end of the 1st round.

message 227: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee | 645 comments I will finish both of my books tomorrow. I probably won't finish another before Friday, so I will begin to work towards Round 2.

message 228: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments Just finished Broken Harbor, started The Jetsetters and will be doing the first set of questions shortly and also reading Love by Roddy Doyle but not sure where that will end up on the spreadsheet. I should be able to read it quite quickly because it's basically a conversation. Still trying to land a copy of Five Feet Apart.

message 229: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments I decided to read the BOM and removed one of the claims I had on 'S'.

message 230: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments I just did the questions for the first two days of the BOM for The Jetsetters and linked my comments on the spreadsheets. Do we need to do any more than the two days? I'll be honest I really don't enjoy answering discussion questions it's just not my thing but in the interest of extra points I am more than willing to do them. Also, in past Wheel-a-thons we had to reply to a couple of people. Do we need to do that as well?

message 231: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I switched around a few of my books, but didn't really change any letters. Should finish the 1 book I have planned for this week sometime Friday. :)

At least 3 sets of questions or if you want to comment, that’s fine too. You don’t need to do both...FYI, I don’t always answer every question

message 233: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments I think the confusion is because I only included 2 spaces on the SS. It threw me off also BUT they only have 2 spaces for evidence on the Main SS so that is what I went with. 3 sets is typically what we need to do for NBRC challenges for credit. Not sure why we have only have 2 spaces.

message 234: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments Ok thanks I’ll make sure I do 3. I didn’t want us to lose out on these easy points. I’m almost done with the book. It’s actually better than I thought it might be

message 235: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments Just finished Day 3 questions. I put the link in column Z because I didn’t want to modify the ss and end up messing it up. I hope I didn’t create a bundle of work for anyone

message 236: by Susan (new)

Susan (jazzescrapper) | 1135 comments Sorry I didn't realize I should be putting my books in my Wheel bookshelf. It's done now :)

message 237: by Roz (new)

Roz (irasobrietate) I have the day off and plan on spending it reading. I just finished If It Makes You Happy and I can get another book finished before the end of Round 1. Are there any particular letters I should focus on? It's hard to tell based on the official SS versus books read but not entered if I should choose a specific letter or just read whatever.

message 238: by Donna (last edited Jun 25, 2020 02:44PM) (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Lauren, some of the books can be used for multiple letters. I actually didn't enter one of mine yet because it can go almost anywhere. Go ahead and read and we will shuffle books if we have to.

message 239: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments I put in a request for page numbers to the librarians group yesterday for Love by Roddy Doyle. Today I bumped the request and still no answer. I’m getting nervous the page numbers won’t be there in time for this round. I’m going to keep stalking it and if I have to I’ll make another new request. Sorry...

Cool. I finished another book that fits like 4 letters so hopefully it's easy enough to fit in.

Shannon O'Flynn | 630 comments Can we use theFive Feet apart as BOM next week or do we have to use it for this week. I just started reading it but i could probably finish it this week if i really tried to. I just have an exam tomorrow tho.

You can use it for the next round. BOM needs to be finished within 1 month from start I believe.

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments Hello everyone,

I think I have all my books listed and shelved correctly for the check-in today. Please let me know if I need to change anything. I don't think I'm going to get another book in like I planned. I unfortunately have too much going on in my brain right now to concentrate to read. Sorry!

Thank you captains for all your hard work!

Tammie | 4553 comments ******************Round 1 ends in 3.75 hours*****************

Books for Round 1 that do not have a completion date:
Sadie: Inside the Hotel Rwanda
Bernadette: Writers & Lovers found read on your 'wheel shelf'
Vivi: Play - MOVED TO ROUND 2

message 246: by Sadie (new)

Sadie (raquitica) | 26 comments I am still working on the book but I don't think I will finish on time :( I'll take it off the list.

Tammie | 4553 comments @Rebecca--Re Broken Harbor. I changed the version to reflect the task of 'geological feature' of book. That version is 533 pages. Large print pg version I don't believe is allowed...will have this double checked to be sure.

@ALL, under the tab labeled 'Task Justifications / (All letters it fits, please)' @ column Y...please indicate the 'task name and then the options for other letters. See others' posts for examples.

Thanks,
