Carnegie Library? It seems as though we are "neighbors." (As in Western Pennsylvania girls.) :)

I miss my library...I'm outside of Philadelphia and our libraries are not open yet:(

message 104: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments I live in a small town right outside Pittsburgh and the library just opened up. However, the other branches are mainly closed so I can't get books from them. I have been using my memberships and the library ebooks mostly.

message 105: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Most of our libraries have opened for pick up. We can't go inside, but at least we can get our books :) Poor books have to be in quarantine when they are returned for 2 weeks...seems excessive but...

message 106: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments In NC our libraries are still locked up tight. We have a pretty good ebook/e-audiobook system, but the waits are crazy since the physical books arent an option.

And shout out to my western PA friends! (Grew up in Pgh)

message 107: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee | 645 comments I'm about an hour east of Pgh. Our library is open for pick-up, but also quarantines books for 2 weeks once returned. I ordered a few from other branches, but they haven't arrived yet. Luckily, I have a large library at home; a bit of an addiction actually. :)

message 108: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments I just checked my holds and I am next on the list for both of the BOM's. I'm hoping that I will have them very soon.

message 109: by Leana (new)

Leana (Flickering Fandom) (flickeringfandom) | 264 comments I've already read Five Feet Apart and like Donna, The Jetsetters isn't really my thing so I'd rather not buy a copy and our libraries here are closed still. I've currently got kindle unlimited running, as well as audible and my various library apps so I'd rather not add Scribd as well (I've already used a free trial so it'd have to be another outgoing) but may end up doing so later on!

I'm in the middle of Jane Eyre and Spin so I'm trying to get them finished ASAP, though Jane Eyre may end up on a "to finish later" list haha.

Sadie (raquitica) | 26 comments Hello! I apologize for the late check-in. This is a my first time playing the Wheel.

I am a medical resident in Ohio, so currently working full force. I will do my best to keep up! I usually read about 2 books a month

Favorite genres: Fiction, Fantasy, Historical Fiction
Favorite author/s: Mitch Albom, Deborah Harkness

I just finished Red Sparrow. Not my typical first pick, but I always like a femme fatale :)

I'm excited to get started! I promise I will catch up on all the posts before the games start ^_^

Rebecca (radf) | 1087 comments I’m sure this has been answered somewhere and I looked through the rules again but what are the beginning and end times for each week?

message 114: by Tammie (last edited Jun 11, 2020 11:36AM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Wheel officially starts at 4PM-Central, tomorrow - Friday
link to countdown -> https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I haven't seen anything to the contrary so for now, we can assume the next 'fortnight' starts directly. I believe a fortnight is what American's refer to as 2 weeks.

Will post very loudly if this is NOT correct.

@ALL...PLEASE DO CHECKIN at least once per week or more. If you decide for any reason, not to continue, we would appreciate you letting us know.

Huge thanks to Donna, Shannon & Tammie for everything - you make it look easy but I'm sure it isn't!

Can I have a task list tab on the spreadsheet please? Happy to add it myself but don't want to mess anything up!

message 122: by Susan (new)

Susan (jazzescrapper) | 1135 comments I copied and pasted this that I sent the MOD

I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled 2 weeks ago and got something they call dry socket but I didn't realize that's what I had. I've lived in so much pain for the last couple days. I got an infection and my mouth swelled up and cheek into my ear. I've been a mess. I don't know if I'm to late but I only have felt good today. I just got my messages.

I don't make a habit of dropping out of sight. Our ER's in Las Vegas won't let you in unless you're sick and because they decided I was a dental problem I couldn't be seen. It was when my cheek swelled and my ear was hurting I decided to go in. I feel like myself today and checked on GRs and saw I may be removed. I have been on penicillin and a narcotic and the pain pill made me very sleepy but I needed sleep since the pain in my ear seemed to get worse if I laid down.

I'm very sorry

Roz (irasobrietate) I can never remember - can we count any author's name who contributes to an anthology or just the editor's name? Because I just finished Out Now: Queer We Go Again! and while I stuck it on O for the title, it can fit like 5 other letters from the contributing authors.

For anthologies it's the editor :) I hope you liked it Lauren

Tammie | 4553 comments @Susan/Ashley I loved Educated.
Parts made me so angry...but I think the sign of a good book is the emotion it brings out. Non-fiction is not my fav, but it's interesting that the one's I do read...I really like...go figure!

The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek...so good!

Honestly I was a little disappointed. Overall it was okay, there were some really good stories in it. But as an anthology it felt disconnected and jarring. I felt like it needed to pick a genre - either contemporary or sff, but not both. Like there just wasn't a cohesive enough theme for the collection which means I didn't like the book as a whole even though I liked individual parts. All Out: The No-Longer-Secret Stories of Queer Teens throughout the Ages was a much stronger collection in my opinion.

Keli | 1319 comments Just finished my first book of the challenge. I knew this challenge would get me reading. I'm so glad I joined up and my first book was a good'un. Neanderthal Seeks Human was so sweet and sexy, though light on the sex, four stars. I've started and should hopefully finish Strange the Dreamer in the next day or two. It's quite thick.

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Have you ever read one of those books that are super zany and wild? You can't rush through it but you honestly don't know if you like it or not. It's just really crazy and odd. Some parts are laugh out funny and others you have to re-read to make sure you know what you read. The book is only 310 pages but it feels like it is over 1000 pages. I have been reading it since the 13th and don't feel like I am making any progress. This is not normal for me. I am going to take a break and read something else then come back. Maybe that will help me move along a little.
