I need the questions to catch up with me too!! It's harder to answer them when you've finished the book!!

Were you surprised by things? I won't say what...

message 303: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 643 comments Slow start for me but I should finish my first book tonight!

message 304: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Angie, I am so glad you are checking shelves! I will start moving stuff over to the official sheet when we get a few more books read, in case we need to juggle stuff around.

message 305: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Lol! You will learn I am a bit OCD! Hope you don't get tired of it - I try to reel it in as much as possible!!

No, worries on moving anything yet; we have lots of time still! We can get 1 or 2 spell outs finished before we start if you want.

No worries, Kate!!

Jenny | 8072 comments I think OCD-ism is a good quality in a Captain! Throw that fishing pole away.

Yes, there were a few surprising parts. I was like oh! We can't talk about it just yet because we are ahead of the game. Okay, I figured out how to change the words to day 1 on my link but I can't figure out how to add day 2 and day 3 to the same line. I'm going to finish my day 3 questions right now. I also forgot about reading for the injustice battle rounds so I'm scrambling to find the shortest book possible that counts to get it read before the deadline tomorrow. Of course none of my current wheel books fits the four tasks that I was assigned.

message 310: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Yep! We can compare notes after everyone finishes it!

You can always switch out your Wheel books for another one!

I think we only have to show that we participated in the questions, and not post every time we did. I will make sure, though.

message 311: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments That's a good point! I may end up doing a switch out situation before these two weeks are over. Oh that's good because I couldn't figure out how to change that.

message 312: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Don't forget, Anna, that you have a whole team of people who can fire off book suggestions for you if you need a title to fit a challenge!

message 313: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll prob finish my book tomorrow night

message 314: by Kelly (last edited Jun 17, 2020 12:04AM) (new)

Kelly (louloo) | 140 comments Completed post! (I think I’ve added it to the spreadsheet correctly!)

The Wedding at the Beach Hut by Veronica Henry A Wedding at the Beach Hut by Veronica Henry
G Gwen
Can also be used for C - Clover
368 pages
Task 160

I’ve also entered a title for a K in a space on the sheet for my next book.

message 315: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I'll definitely ask for suggestions next time. I tend to get myself in some situations at the last minute sometimes....

I love a good scavenger hunt, and I am quick to find titles. the Harry Potter TT made that skill a necessity between the first Quidditch match and the Maze.

message 318: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Bravo team, we are doing so well already, and you all are remembering to put your books on your wheel shelves as well!!!!!

Has anyone found any wonderful recommendations from the other teams that you are going to try yet?

message 319: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Woohoo! I was randomly picked to write DQs for the next BOM, Five Feet Apart. Points!!!!

message 320: by Abbey (new)

Abbey (abbeyhauser) | 210 comments Jenny wrote: "Woohoo! I was randomly picked to write DQs for the next BOM, Five Feet Apart. Points!!!!"

BOOYAH!!! I put my name in the running, but I'm so glad you got it for our team! I've never written DQs so it was a bit of a gamble putting my name, so I am a bit relieved to just see how it all works. The only other buddy read I've done fizzled out when I was the only one that ended up continuing the book lol, so I'm excited for this one. I love the story and it's accuracy of CF.

I have a different chronic illness, but know many people with CF who have loved the representation. If anyone likes this story, I highly recommend the Middle Grade novel Caleb and Kit Caleb and Kit by Beth Vrabel that has a character with CF, but the story centers on a new friendship and risks taken in gaining independence.

message 321: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments I just added that to my list. Seriously, I would have bought it for the cover if I had ever seen it before, but your recommendation makes it even better!

I was nervous the first time I wrote DQs, but it is really easy. I end up writing way more questions than is necessary, and have to whittle them down.

message 322: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13027 comments Hello there Rabbits!

Having just finished The Art of Fielding (a book I can heartily recommend!), I am left in the mood for more sports-themed books, so have come to see if any of you have any recommendations in the genre.
Just to be clear, I'm not looking for a trashy romance that happens to have a sports backdrop (you know the kind I mean...), but the kind that has a sport at its heart. (any sport, I'm open to learning about new ones! lol)

Thanks in advance!

Sammy - Team HP

Navi (nvsahota) | 730 comments Greetings from Team Pants! I've come to request recommendations from you all 😊 Lately, I’ve been in the mood for some great nonfiction. Any favourites? I don’t have a genre preference – biography, memoir, history, science are all fine! Thanks in advance!

I always recommend Beartown and Us Against You if you haven't read them yet. They are so good!

If you haven't read it yet, I just finished Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption. It was so good and a great read during this time that we are having in the United States right now. A few of my local friends have been passing around White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism and I'm next on the list so I'm really looking forward to that one also.

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Pssst..... Go to the requester's team thread and post your recs for them. (Be sure to include who you are giving recs for and which team your from.) The recommendations are to get teams to interact and the requester may not come back by this thread. ;-)

Yay!!

I am with Abbey! I was a little worried to; I've never written them before either!

message 329: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Jenny, I haven't had a chance to look thought all the books that have been recommended to see what I want to read! Work is really needy right now....ugh! Lol!!

Anna and anyone else who was wondering - we only have to link post to show we participated in the BOM discussion. We have to participate in at least half the discussion for it to count for points (3 days).

message 330: by bamaace83 (last edited Jun 17, 2020 07:31PM) (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments That does make sense. Let me go find those threads.....done!

I would be slightly intimidated writing questions myself. I think it would be hard to make sure to have good information in the questions and also get good discussion from them. I really love the book Five Feet Apart. I've worked with that population of kids for years in the hospital setting and it just touches a special piece of my heart. I work with another population now but both populations still intertwine at times. I'm sure that y'all will knock it out of the park on questions and I'm going to re-read the book since it's been a year and so I can add more points. :)

Jenny | 8072 comments I just added a link to the countdown for the end of this round/ beginning of the next round. Message 5 at the top of this thread. Worry not, we have over a week left. If possible though, try to finish books you have planned for this round a couple of hours before the end, so Angie and I have time to enter and check everything please!

Here is the link for redundancy...

15 minutes, eight days, really what's the difference?

Jenny, my dear - you scared me! Lol!

BUT - it made me laugh out loud!! So, it also made my day!

message 340: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Lol, she's just keeping us on our toes. At least we aren't dodging flying objects at the moment. I think some of our hearts were already pumping from the Olympic countdown clock and seeing another one may have been like a there's no way moment. I mean I may or may not be speaking from experience over here.

message 341: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Ooh, I totally forgot about the Olympics. Is there a thread for spectators, or will there be? (I forgot to tally my meager points, and I don't do many individual challenges- I prefer the group ones.)

message 342: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 643 comments Finally finished - on the app on my phone so will post on the computer after I have coffee. I need to catch up. I went back into the office this week and I am not in top reading form. Will be able to finish the next two pretty easily though as this one was a lot slower - you had to really pay attention - than I anticipated.

message 343: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments It may be a private Olympics because we had to get a fancy invite. It was a wild opening ceremony with lots of flags. We have now moved on to the swimming portion. This could get interesting. Oh yeah, I've already switched out books on the fancy spreadsheet for ones that I had planned on reading but I kept my same spots. I'm just over rearranging. Do we get penalized for reading over the amount of books that we said? I have four left to read for the next week and my work schedule is crazy so I may not go over that but then again, I might.

message 344: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Hi Kate,
No worries! I understand the work thing! Just do what you can and let us know if you see any problems. We want you to have fun and not feel like it's a burden!

message 345: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments There is no penalty for going over. It is a good thing, I think, as someone may have a bad week, or choose to finish a title more slowly.

Damn. I wanted to watch the games.

message 346: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Anna - no penalties for going over or under the number of books you signed up with. That's really just a way to build teams with close to the same amount of reading ability. Now if someone says they can read 2 books in a month and end up reading 50 for wheels....they might be held to the higher number for the next team challenge.

message 347: by Angie ☯ (last edited Jun 19, 2020 10:29AM) (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Hi everyone!! We are officially 1 week into this challenge! Since there is a requirement of a weekly checkin, I'm asking any lurkers who come by but don't post, to please drop in and say hi.

I will use Fri/Sat/Sun as our check in days.

If you have already posted today, you are golden....but we'd love it if you dropped by all during the challenge / weeks and chat with us a bit. :-)
