Angie ☯ | 3110 comments There is an easy way but it only works sometimes due to a lot of activity on the site... Let me see if I can explain it.

message 902: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments You realize that you are right now just a big tease, yes?
An easy way. as if. It's like you all of a sudden had real things to do.

I finished a huge project at work, and then left early. A much better thing to do on a Friday.

message 903: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Lol! I realized that after I posted and then had to work!! I am taking next Friday off after a huge project - well the first phase of a 3 year project!

I'll post it shortly, have to get the pics in order.....maybe everyone will think it's easy and forgive me for being a tease!!

message 904: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments You are totally forgiven.

I am about to pour myself a nice single malt. Want one?

message 905: by Angie ☯ (last edited Jul 31, 2020 06:01PM) (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments To check for a tag on a specific book

Open the book in GR and go to the Genre's list on the right side of the page. Click on "See top shelves...."

On the next page, click on one of the links "# people"

On the page that is returned, go to the top in the web address and change the word after the "Shelf=" to the TAG you want to search for.

Original:

Changed to TAG searching for:

After you hit enter you will get either a "Sorry, no users found" - meaning the tag doesn't exist on the book

OR a list of people that have tagged the book with the TAG you searched:

New TAG searching for:

Tag IS ON the book - in this example, 1 person tagged the book

Sometimes, you will get this screen - and it just means the search timed out:

Yes, please!!

message 907: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Let me know if that post make sense. I think I may have an actual link to a how to...I'll look for it, I'm sure it is better than my version!!

message 908: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you. My computer hates me so it won't load easily

message 909: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Totally trying that this weekend just to see.

Would you prefer an 18 year old Glenmorangie, or a 17 year old Lagavulin? I am pulling out the good stuff for a Friday.

message 910: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 771 comments Angie that is an awesome explanation on how to search easily!! 🤯

message 911: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 771 comments Finished The Sun Down Motel headed to answer questions and then post my books to the spreadsheet.

Jenny no idea what those things are so I will also be looking them up so I can answer. 😉

I also started the Odyssey so I may make it to that chat as well 🤞🏾

message 912: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments I am finishing up a book and then plan to dive into the Odyssey tomorrow.
Those things are single malt scotches. Happy to pour one for you as well if you like. I'm a sharer.

message 913: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 771 comments That is the drink I can’t do so you keep your scotch...I’m having a gin and tonic 🤭

message 914: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Mmmm. Have you tried Stellar citrus gin? Very good, especially if you are out of limes for your g and t's.

message 915: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 771 comments I haven’t I will have to look for it!

message 916: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments You are breaking out the good stuff! I'll have whichever you are having!

message 917: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Yawn! I have my house to myself for the first time in almost two weeks, and all I want to do is go to sleep! I hope to be a bit more active here from now on, but not tonight.
Night all!

message 918: by Celia (new)

Celia (cealcrest) I'm getting close to finishing an audio book with an X narrator. Should I hold off in case we get an X word next round? Idk if it's possible to get a repeat word. If not, there are three other words with an X in them.

message 919: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Nah. If you feel like finishing it, then go ahead. We seem to have no problem finding books to fit letters so far.

Of course, now I jinxed it.

message 920: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Okay, am I blind? If I finish a book that is set in Cancun, Mexico what country would I put that under because Mexico isn't listed and it's technically not Central America. Did I miss Mexico on that list? I'm struggling to fit these fast sports romance books in a category. I've done pretty well so far but did have to finally kill my MPG Romance because I just couldn't make that one fit anywhere else.

message 921: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments You are not blind. Mexico is not included. I will go ask in the captain's group to see if Central America will be allowed.

message 922: by Angie ☯ (last edited Aug 02, 2020 07:51PM) (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments I don't think there is anywhere that covers Mexico. It is it's own country, but is located in North America....and we have neither of those!

I think someone asked about Central America, but I may be wrong.....

message 923: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments I asked on the cap's thread, and Lexi said it had been asked before, and the answer was no. I couldn't find the post, but, oh well.
Sorry, My guess is the mods just missed that country, or thought it belonged in Central Am. We all make oopses sometimes.
Perhaps find a friend on a different team who is willing to recommend a few more books! teehee.

I will be very surprised if by the end of this round and into the last, we will all be able to find tasks that haven't been used before. Just do your best, and remember that you can move tasks around in this round before our choices are locked in.

message 924: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Thanks so much for checking. I haven't finished that one yet and skipped over it so I'll just leave it to think about itself and may pick it back up later. I'm pretty sure I know what happens because I went on to the next book. I'm trying to look at the task sheet before picking books for other challenges but sometimes I have an oops which is how I had to kill the MPG romance this round.

message 925: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments I'm pretty sure you didn't mean it the way you typed it out, but now I am picturing your book sitting there, abandoned, thinking about itself. I'm so sad for it now.

message 926: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Have any of you read Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky yet? I have about 100 pages left, and it is reading like early Stephen King. I bloody need to find out what happens to these characters!!!!!!

I hope the ending is good. Or bad. I just want it to be as compelling as the rest of the book.

message 927: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Jenny wrote: "I'm pretty sure you didn't mean it the way you typed it out, but now I am picturing your book sitting there, abandoned, thinking about itself. I'm so sad for it now."

Lol!!! It is sitting there thinking about why I skipped it but I'll get back to it at some point. That's the good thing about kindle unlimited. I can pick it up later. I tried to tell it that you don't fit any challenge so you should sit there and think about that. I'm sure I'll pick it up soon especially if I finish this series this week. I added the other book to my TBR. You'll have to let me know how that goes.

message 928: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments How is everyone doing this round?

Four and a half days left in this round. Let us know when you have a chance if you are on track to complete the books on the spreadsheet.

Thanks!!

message 929: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments We only have 3 more weeks of wheel!

We have our Final round word - Exercise - and we have that pesky X again! Lol!

Tags are: Sun, Summer, Beach, Seashells, Hammock

We'll get everything updated and added to the spreadsheet in a day or so.

message 930: by Celia (last edited Aug 03, 2020 09:44AM) (new)

Celia (cealcrest) I’m on track and expect to possibly add 2-3 more.

I had a feeling we were going to get another X! Oh well hah

I’ve had so much fun with this challenge that I don’t want it to end. I was trying to find the next team challenge on the group page, but I didn’t see anything. Anyone know when/what the next team challenge will be?

message 931: by Jade aka MrsTosh (last edited Aug 03, 2020 12:06PM) (new)

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) | 787 comments Hi everyone, sorry I have been AWOL ;) we have had some sunny weather here in Lancashire, so I have been making the most of it. Believe it or not it is our Summer season in the UK but all it has done for weeks is rain and the temp has been around 13oC.

I am also on track with my books, changed a few up from my original choices, but have made the amendments to the spreadsheet and am half way through another 3 books, and the others ready to go.

I still have a few X's I can use.....really enjoyed the challenge so far....

Anyone started the BOM yet? how are you finding it? going to start this week once I have got these books finished. Happy reading ;D

message 932: by Angie ☯ (last edited Aug 03, 2020 03:10PM) (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Celia - I don't know if you are a member of Game Night, but they are doing a Team Challenge very similar to this one - Turf Wars. There is a little bit more strategy to determine which "turf" the team is trying to win. (Linked it, in case you want to check it out.) Oh - it will overlap with Wheel for 2 weeks (the last round)

I don't know when/what the next team challenge is in NBRC.

Awesome on the books! :-)

Celia (cealcrest) Jade aka MrsTosh wrote: "Anyone started the BOM yet? how are you finding it? going to start this week once I have got these books finished. Happy reading ;D."

I’m enjoying Pachinko so far! The desperation and dogged survival in the face of hardship reminds me a bit of The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck and The Strangeness of Beauty by Lydia Minotoya. Both excellent books if anyone needs a rec :P

Glad you all finally got some good weather over there, Jade! We finally had a heatwave last week with multiple days over 100F. A bit hotter than I like, but not complaining after one of the coldest, wettest Julys we’ve had in years...

message 934: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Jade - no worries!! I'd be out enjoying the summer, if I could too!
Great on the books - thanks!!

I'm not sure I will get to the BOM this week, it may have to go into next round for me.

message 935: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Anna - oh Annnnaaaa

Good news for you - your book set in Cancun CAN be used for Central America because Cancun is in the Yucatán Peninsula...which is in Central America.

For the Central America setting, it has to be specifially in the Yucatán Peninsula states/cities.

message 936: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 771 comments I am also on track and may get a couple more in as well. I will be figuring it out tonight after I finish The Odyssey.

message 937: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 152 comments I’m thinking I’ll be able to finish one more book if not two for this round

message 938: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments I may change one or two out, but I will finish what I planned numbers-wise at least.
I just started the sequel to Gideon the Ninth, and for any of you who read that one, know that this one is as much of a head-trip. I love it so far, even though I am pretty confused.

Yay! That's great news. I need to read another sports book so I'll go back and pick that lonely book up and keep going with the series. :)

Thanks for the heads up, Angie! I went ahead and joined the Game Night group and the Turf challenge :D

message 942: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Lol, it was sitting lonely looking at me like what did I ever do to get skipped over like this. Plus, I'm invested in these characters and need to know how those two get together.

message 943: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments ...i sat there just like you told me, anna, thinking on my evil ways...thinking...thinking...and then i decided to give just a little tweak to a map...and now you like me again...

...

YAY

message 944: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Oh no.....my addiction seems to be catching!!

I'm playing Turf Wars, I like it. :-) I never know which team I'm going to be on, I just let it fall where it may. I hope you have fun!

message 945: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Hehe, it's amazing how just a little tweak can make things happen. It's like magic! It's a good thing the little book just sat there waiting...

I'm signed up for Turf Wars and all those other challenges.....there may be a slight addiction to challenges....I just need to go buy more chocolate to snack on while I'm reading for all the challenges.

message 946: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Lol! I haven't drank any drinks with caffeine all year - I bought soda with caffeine tonight!

Jenny | 8072 comments Angie ☯ wrote: "Lol! I haven't drank any drinks with caffeine all year - I bought soda with caffeine tonight!"

Are you climbing the walls yet? teehee.

I so want to do Turf Wars again. I did the first one, and I loved it. But, I would explode if I tried to keep the pace I know I would set for myself. Maybe when the next one rolls around I will have the time and the mental capacity.

What's up besides Turf? Any other challenges look fun?

message 948: by Angie ☯ (last edited Aug 03, 2020 07:38PM) (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Let's face it....I'm a challenge slut! haha

Well, there is a really fun one in MVBO (My Vampire Book Obsession). Werewolves of MVBO Hollow. It's a 1 book a week challenge (have to complete 1, can complete more) - based on the game Werewolves and Villagers. The group is very low key. They have monthly challenges, but they are very laid back/low key. They have this challenge and Vampire Wars that are team challenges, they are once a year.

I'm inviting everyone to come on over and join the group if you like Fantasy / Vampire books - there is a lot of talking in the group. It's just a fun group. MVBO

Oh and there is another one....going to find a link for it too. :-D

message 949: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments This one is at AMMP. It's a one book per round challenge too, but the catch is....you are trying to find 1 book that will match as many as possible of 10 tasks given each round.

Fun. Fields Food.

I don't know if I'm in any others or not!

message 950: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments Turf Wars Teams were just posted. Anna and Celia - looks like we are on Team Orange! Cindy, I think you joined too...but you are on Team Brown :-(
