Jenny | 8072 comments Wow guys. Well done again!

My recommendations for this week are the audiobook of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. Really really good.
Also, The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave and Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo .

Celia (cealcrest) Congratulations, Letitia! Hope your morning sickness ends soon! Are you planning to find out if your baby is a boy or girl or do you want to be surprised?

message 853: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments I am planning to read The Odyssey this round. Anyone want to buddy read this one?

I found out with all my others one (i have three boys) so we are leaving it be a surprise this time.

Jenny | 8072 comments Kelly, you had A Springtime Affair on the spreadsheet twice. I took one off, so if I am wrong, and it is a sequel or something, sorry, you need to put it back on.

message 856: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Is Norway considered a Scandinavian country for this challenge? I'm trying to match tasks. I'm going to be running into some problems soon with tasks. I've been reading like crazy!

message 857: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Yes, it is.
You have been going nuts! Keep it up as long as you want to.

message 858: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Lol, I'm on a crazy mission until Wednesday and then I'll see what the next crazy challenges are. I'll go add that book right now. I did have to pick some books between 200-300 pages to keep up at the crazy pace but I'll hopefully have time for a couple heavier books next weekend.

Thank you. There is only one version. I thought it odd when I went on the spreadsheet to add my finish date and couldn’t find the entry I had made so added it again a few words down. I must have missed it.

message 860: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments No problem!
I have done sillier things.

Kelly (louloo) | 140 comments Sorry to be an absolute pain but some of my tasks are recorded incorrectly. I’m viewing the list on my phone and the number in the column preceding the task column is one out from the task number and I think I may have used that a few times. Would someone be able to check please as I can’t see the previous rounds on the spreadsheet?

Sorry, I can't see them either think only Jenny and Angie can. I copied and pasted the tasks onto a google sheet to track the tasks I have completed per round, found it really helpful.

I am pretty sure that the previous rounds are locked by the mods, so we won't be able to change those. The way Angie set up the spreadsheet makes it so the task you put on the Round tab will show up on the Tasks tab. So, change the numbers on the Round tab for this month, and that will change it on the other.
Sorry if you lost some easy tasks to mis-numbering earlier!

message 866: by Abbey (new)

Abbey (abbeyhauser) | 210 comments Just an FYI on the spreadsheet, the task points for the second word are not populating the task points (there is no formula in their cells). I just added a task and noticed this, so figure I'd pass it on. No rush to get it changed, you both are awesome!

The error is not for this round it’s for previous rounds. 5 of my task numbers are incorrect for previous rounds. It’s not so much I lost them but previous rounds will have tasks allocated to books where they don’t meet the criteria.

message 868: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments OK. We'll look into it.
We might just have to live with it and lose a few task points, but life could be worse.

Could you list the books and the task numbers when you get the chance?

Round 2 The Plus One Pact should be Task 48 not 49
Round 3 A Summer Scandal should be Task 40 not 41
Round 3 Meet Me at Pebble Beach should be Task 78 not 79
Round 3 The Waffle House by the Pier should be Task 121 not 122
Round 3 Kate & Claras Cornish Craft ship should be Task 128 not 129
Round 4 Property of a Noble Woman should be Task 145 not 146

Fixed this! Thanks for letting us know!

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments The previous rounds were just hidden so it wasn't so busy - I unhid them and they are at the begining of the tabs before the summary. Everyone should be able to see everything, if it's hidden you could unhide it.

message 873: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you!

I def have a chance to finish another book this week

message 874: by Victorian Vickie (new)

Victorian Vickie (vhartwell) I have about 4 books to post!

message 875: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Kelly, we asked the mods to see what we should/can do. I will keep you posted. For now, if you can find other tasks to fit your books that would be great!

message 876: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 771 comments Question if I read one of the July book of the month can I still answer questions next week or do I have to answer by Friday to count?

message 877: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 771 comments Jenny I’ll read the Odyssey with you. I’ll probably be ready to start on Thursday.

Jenny | 8072 comments Alissa wrote: "Question if I read one of the July book of the month can I still answer questions next week or do I have to answer by Friday to count?"

You have a month from the starting date of the BOM.

Jenny | 8072 comments Alissa wrote: "Jenny I’ll read the Odyssey with you. I’ll probably be ready to start on Thursday."

Cool. I will ask for a thread. I have both the audio and the book, so I will probably go between them for this one.

message 880: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Alissa, our thread is here...

message 881: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Kelly, we can't do anything about the tasks that were recorded incorrectly. We will lose the task points for those. But, since it was as though you didn't record those tasks, you can use them now!

Either Angie or I will update the task tab on the spreadsheet at some point today.

message 882: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3110 comments I've updated the rounds to take off the tasks that were misnumbered.

Except - The Waffle House by the Pier also worked for Task 122 (building word in title - house), so that one was left.

message 884: by Abbey (new)

Abbey (abbeyhauser) | 210 comments Question: The book I just finished, The Night Fire, is sort of part of multiple series. It's the 3rd in a "Ballard and Bosch" series, #22 in Harry Bosch and #32 in the "Harry Bosch Universe" - which number would I/could I use for the series number task?

message 885: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments You can make an argument for any of those numbers. Just put the explanation in the task description.

message 886: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I added more books. Now I’m being smarter and looking at the hard tasks to go over and find books for the Olympics instead of vice versa. I’m running out of easy tasks!

message 887: by [deleted user] (new)

Thinking I'll finish my book today or tomorrow

message 888: by Victorian Vickie (new)

Victorian Vickie (vhartwell) Just added 5 books to the spreadsheet....I got behind

message 889: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Well done!

message 890: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments Did any of you see President Obama's eulogy for John Lewis?
I am still crying.

message 891: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments If you see little purple boxes on the spreadsheet, you have not gone crazy. I checked to see if tasks matched task numbers, and the purple box means all is well. So, if you change tasks before the end of the round on a book, please double check the number or change the color of the box so I can please.

I also added possible tasks for the books that were labeled TBD. I went off covers and MPG mainly, so if there is a task that is covered in the books themselves, I have no idea what they could be.
Use the suggestions, or don't, but they all ones you haven't used yet. I think.

message 892: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished another book.

I will put on spreadsheet bit with write review to proof o read it when it's not almost 1 am

message 893: by [deleted user] (new)

I read All the Light we Cannot See and following all the rules I'm not sure if I can fit it in

message 894: by [deleted user] (new)

Found a character

message 895: by [deleted user] (new)

Apologies for all the questions but why are both sheets view only?

I wanted to save work by putting it on the spreadsheet

All the Light we cannot see C: Etienne pages: 531

Sorry ignore everything lol wrong page

message 897: by [deleted user] (new)

Apologies if past 1 am in the morning I'm going crazy.

Where do I look for tags? Doubt it but want to check

You can link to them from the spreadsheet on the top of the page, or from message 5 (I think) in this thread.

One in the morning posts are usually the most entertaining!

Thank you. How do I find it for a specific book though?

message 900: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8072 comments You kind of can't do it easily. If you go to the "see top tags" below the MPG list on your book page, you can comb through pages of tags, hoping to see the one you are looking for. Or, you can go through pages of books on the links above, and hope you see the book you are looking for.

If there is an easier way, I am not aware of it.
