Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12864 comments Aaaaand we're off!

Welcome once again ladies and gentlemen aboard the Hogwarts Express. We will be taking the very scenic route to Hogwarts, so please ensure you are comfortable, and all luggage is stowed away safely in the luggage racks or overhead compartments.

Our refreshment trolley, which stocks a wide assortment of interesting treats, from chocolate frogs and cauldron cakes to Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, will be passing through soon, or you can make your way to the buffet cart for a delicious hot waiter meal.

As your self-appointed tour-guide, I will now point out to you the sights as we pass them, so if you will all look out of the window to the left...

You will see nothing on the right.

Ba-boom-tish.

Thank you, I'll be here all week.

Ok, ok, the actual sights. yes. Well, as you can see now that we've pulled out of the station, we are of course in London. First up is the iconic sight of Big Ben. This imposing tower has been a familiar sight and a well-loved British institution for many years, recognised by people across the globe, and featured in many movies and tv shows, both domestic and abroad.

description

Next up you will see the Hammersmith Apollo. A familiar sight for those who love to see a good show, note the impressive structural integrity. This is one landmark that will not fall down in a hurry.

description

That concludes the London part of the tour. I will be back to point out more of the sights as we make our way north. I hope you all have a pleasant evening, and enjoy your books!

Though with sights like these, can we stick around London a bit longer? Or slow down the train perhaps? ;)

I don't believe it would work Lind. The rules state that the tag has to be exact

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments If anybody wants they are free to copy my "Plethora Task" tab. I expanded on the groupings already presented, thank you for getting it started! Was a huge help. [As you see my buddy Carmen already has taken advantage of the tab.]

I put them in a few more groups and did weird OCD things like put series # in order, color in order, MPG in alphabetical order...lol

I also have it totaling the 'X' I mark as I'm deciding.

I figure I will probably make a final decision towards the end of each two week period where I really want to place a book for a task. So I can keep track of what each book is offering and once I decide I can mark a task as used. (Hide, strike-through, delete). As I will just reset my book columns each fortnight.

Ah, this makes my persnickety self very happy. I wasn't sure if it was okay for me to do it this way and change the way things were laid out - but now I'm going to be having a field day with this. Thanks, Plethora! :D

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12864 comments Ohhhh, The Art of Fielding was soooo worth waiting for! Stayed up way too late last night reading, but on the upside the rain this morning meant I could stay in bed later to make up for the missing sleep, lol.

Unfortunately the house is awake now, so switching to my audio book :)

message 321: by Rokkan (new)

Rokkan (rokk) | 191 comments So are the task points meant to be separate from the general points? i just completed my first offering (Graceling, decent enough book, not rushing to buy the rest of the series though) and noticed the formula for the total points tab misses the task points.

I copied one over for you, so you can now find a tab labeled Linda's Task.

message 325: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I just finished my first one too, Husband Material... It was a sweet read... sure, most people shy from it because of the one scene, but I took it with a a grain of salt.

Now I'm looking at my colouring pencils and mulling over if I pick up another kindle, or switch to an audio.... decisions decisions.

message 326: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12864 comments Hah! My audio is also really good. now I have about an hour where I can do either, and I can't decide, lol.

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 1267 comments Quick clarification:

For cover colors, is the limit for the color to be 50% or more per TinyEye?

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Apoorv wrote: "Quick clarification:

Good question. Let me see if i can find out. I finished my first book which is 67.6% black cover so I think that may work. I'm guessing 50% or more would be good.

message 330: by Plethora (last edited Jun 13, 2020 04:30PM) (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments The goals FAQ spreadsheet for all NBRC challenges states 50% for color cover which can be checked with TinEye.

We can also use judgment of the team if it is one of the crazy books that everybody thinks looks one color but TinEye says it is something else.

message 331: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments This is the Goals FAQ spreadsheet that usually can answer basic questions regarding a task.

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 380 comments Just a quick question, I'm about 65% through my first book, and I'm wondering if I will add a finished date or anything like that to the spreadsheet? Will I make a post here as well?

ETA: I saw that date read sign column on the spread sheet, so I did put my finish date on there.

Alison (Lady Coffin) S | 949 comments If we use an Audiobook, where should the page count come from?

Normally I type the book name into the "search books" search bar and use the book it defaults to.
Is that the correct tactic?
Because I know it is not always the highest page count. So wanted to be sure.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12864 comments Good day ladies and gentlemen, I thought I'd draw your attention to the fact that we're currently passing through Leicestershire, and are coming up on the corner of Tall, Dark and Brooding.
(I strongly suspect we will have us some stowaways on board for this stop)

I can also tell you that there are some most excellent audio books to be found around here... most notably David Copperfield, Lords of the North or even Classic Love Poems for those in the mood to swoon...

I wonder where we might be headed next..?

Someone beat me to it, which is good because I originally thought I would have today off all my jobs, but no. I worked after all.

I did rename it Book Recs to make it easier to find.

Sorry Cappie/Co-Cappie's, didn't mean to step on anyone's shoes, just wanted to get a cohesive idea as to what book are being recommended instead of opening multiple tabs.
