Laura | 5524 comments We’ve already got 9 Q books on the spreadsheet. We should be able to spell it 10 times, if we read the same as we did in Round 2. But Round 2 was up 10 books from Round 1.

Maybe hold on to it until next week and see where we are?

message 552: by Geri (new)

Geri OK. I’ll check the spreadsheet later.

used for Title: Letter A

67. Read #1 in a series

114. read a book set in the past (takes place in 1831)
118. Read a book with multiple points of view
131. MPG Historical fiction
162. Single person on the cover

You've already used the multiple POV task, and I don't think England works for mainland Europe, since it's an island. I'm checking with the other captains on that one. And it might, technically, work for the "island in the Atlantic" task.

Laura | 5524 comments Three spellings completed. 4th spelling is waiting for an R to be finished. 5th spelling begun, not quite half way done with it yet. :)

Whatever task it works for is fine with me :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 775 comments Added another "B" book to the spreadsheet - it will also fit Letter "A" for character - Amy is the MC

Michelle (govmarley) | 3150 comments What do you all think? Country scene on cover? It works for multiple tasks.
How to Marry a Marquis (Agents of the Crown, #2) by Julia Quinn

message 559: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Looks like a country scene to me.

message 560: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments More like a landscape than a scene, IMO, but it depends how/whether you make that distinction. :)

I'd say country

LaurLa found the Set in the British Isles" task. I thought I had seen one, but I was looking for England or Britain when I was searching, so I completely missed it. I put A Rogue down for that one. :)

message 567: by Geri (new)

Geri I added another Q book to the spreadsheet. It looks like we will need it. I am on track to read more this round than last round.

Have you gotten any sleep in the last 24 hours? 5 or 6 books completed?!!! :)

message 569: by Geri (new)

Geri Insomnia is a big advantage during a challenge! 😁 Plus I read a few by alternating them. So they all got done one after another.

message 570: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 3150 comments I love alternating books, Geri. I find I can read more that way. Something about my short attention span I think.

Finished another and adding dates to the sheet.

message 571: by LaurLa (last edited Jul 18, 2020 05:49AM) (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments I never used to alternate books, mostly because I usually read a book in one sitting. But lately I've found myself doing it with longer books or books that are somewhat out of my normal reading zone. I've found that I kind of like it! For really good books, I feel like I get to spend more time with the characters. For the books that are harder for me to read, it takes the pressure off forcing myself to finish before moving on to something else. Who knew? ;-)

message 572: by [[ Frankie ]] (new)

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 536 comments Most of the time, I only read one book at a time, just because I like to dedicate my focus & attention on one plot/story, if I can (sometimes challenges force me to read multiple books at once, though). But if I find a good audiobook with a decent narrator, then I can have more than one going - listening & reading. But I’m super picky about narrators, so I don’t listen to audiobooks very often.

message 573: by [[ Frankie ]] (new)

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 536 comments By the way, I’ve finished Upright Women Wanted (highly recommend!) & I’m adding finish date to the spreadsheet. Still deciding which task I’m gonna use it for, though. ;]

message 574: by [[ Frankie ]] (new)

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 536 comments Question about the light blue highlight on completed books - -

I haven’t been highlighting mine when I complete a book, because I didn’t know if that was a way for the captains to determine what has been added to the actual spreadsheet, etc.

But if I do need to highlight it once I complete it, just let me know & I will!

message 575: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments I think we’ll need it for the U!

message 576: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments That light blue highlight means it has been added to the official team spreadsheet. Please don’t highlight yours! If you do, chances are that it won’t get used. :(

Would like to add this book to the recommendation list, please! So if you guys, or anyone on another team, would like to use it for the recommendation task, it’ll be there. :]

Great, that’s what I thought! That’s why I hadn’t been highlighting it, but wanted to verify to make sure I wasn’t missing something. Thank you! :p

Looks like we’ll need quite a few more E’s. So I’ll try for one of those.

message 582: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments It turns out that Spinning Silver also has R and B characters but I guess it’s best to leave it for E ... very lucky, that :)

Anyway, I should be done with it (and My Vanishing Country) by the end of the weekend.

Sometimes I fly through books. 200-300 pages is nothing for me. But longer books are better for me to read over a week or so, In between shorter books. That way I don’t feel as much pressure during a challenge. And like you mentioned, I feel like I get to savor the book more!

message 585: by Geri (new)

Geri Laura - I finished book 3 in the Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries. I love the series! It’s so much fun. Hot romance, funny humor and a decent mystery and paranormal story. My library doesn’t have book 4 or 5. 😕 I will probably spend the few dollars to get them on kindle.

Laura | 5524 comments Update on our tagged books: We've got 7 read for this round, and Alysa is working on an 8th. So we'll need 2 more!

I found out last round that The Horse and His Boy is tagged Freedom. The first Harry Potter is also tagged Freedom. And 2, 4, & 7 and tagged Winter. And several Hercule Poirot books are also tagged Winter.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is tagged Freedom!

I'm trying to get a copy of The Apple Orchard which is tagged Mountain

I don’t read enough kindle books to subscribe. I use my library aA LOT. And audible and audible escape. You definitely need to continue!! The story gets even better, hotter and mysterious. 😁

Laura | 5524 comments Geri, there are soooo many RH authors that are only available on KU.

But if your library carries them, great. I haven’t found any RH books at my local libraries!

message 591: by Geri (new)

Geri Yeah, I’m lucky. My library carries many books I want. I am able to get the series you recommended, Kidnapped By Her Husbands series, at least the first 4 or 5. And the Unconventional series is on Hoopla too.

I found a book on my tbr that works for the wInter tag. I will add it to the spreadsheet!

message 592: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (carriele1216) | 1317 comments I added Shadow and Bone to the spreadsheet. It is tagged for Winter so I think that should be 10.

message 593: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I added The Blood Guard to the spreadsheet. Will add link to edition when I get back on my laptop.
It’s got MPG Childrens so I checked for verified word count (it is 63170 words so it’s fine) but I didn’t see any good place to note that on the spreadsheet so I am putting it here. :)

message 594: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Also, my Kindle version of The Blood Guard has 291 pages on GR, but 322 on Amazon, in case you captains think it is worth having someone look into editing the page count. I don’t care too much vis-a-vis Wheelathon because it’s not a significant point difference, but of course I do like it when GR listings are correct :)
