Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12853 comments Have fun reading folks! :)

message 27: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments How is everyone doing? I made progress on Woof, but I am a little disappointed because I didn't realize it is a middle grade story. I confused it with the author's other series, starting with Dog on It, which is for adults. I'm still going to read it because I need it for another challenge, but I wish I had chosen the other series. Oh well. At least it isn't bad, just not what I was going for.

I am also reading The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, which is really cute so far. I'm about halfway through.

message 28: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments I made a little progress but not as much as I liked but that's okay. We spent most of the day with dad for Father's Day.
Cards, gifts, grandkids, Bbq, cards, fishing, out in the boat. It was a busy day- but lovely.

I did start two books Five Feet Apart and A Discovery of Witches.

Kristie, I have that book borrowed- I'm hoping I have time to read it before my loan expires. I've heard good things about it.

I hope you have time to get to Nina. It certainly has some funny parts. I'm hoping to read most of it tomorrow.

What do you think of Five Feet Apart? I've borrowed it twice, but not read it yet. I seem to be really undecided on it.

I read it in 2019, this will be a re read. It's great to get some awareness of CF.

message 31: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I actually managed to finish my first book yesterday already! The Wicker King was a super quick read (the chapters regularly weren't even a page long) and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the author's second book immediately.

I loved Nina Hill when I read it last year! One of the most relatable MCs out there (at least for me!)

message 32: by Sonia (new)

3 stars.. It wasn’t my favourite or least favourite book and not necessarily the best book for a re read ( audio this time around) but I thought it was a good book to raise awareness for CF. I forgot the ending and enjoyed it more this time around- possibly due to the emotion you could hear in the narrator’s voices?

what did you think to infinite jest?

message 47: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I've been absolutely terrible about updating but I've read so much this past week! I've finished 8 books which is just insane - and 5 of them were audiobooks. Even more important: Everything I read was at least good, most of it was great!

No idea what changed this month but I've just been breezing through audiobooks like never before. Most of what I've picked up recently has been on the shorter side, but 2000 pages in a week is still pretty much the maximum I can do.

message 48: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12853 comments Marie (UK) wrote: "what did you think to infinite jest?"

Well, I'm not quite done yet, but LOVED the first quarter or so, then it started to drag a bit. In the end I had to step away and read some other stuff as it's just so depressing! I thought it was meant to be a comedy, lol.

message 49: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12853 comments 890 pages and 74 hours of audio over 8 books. not too shabby, but not entirely unexpected seeing as how I'm in "crazy challenge reading" mode :)
