Allison Brennan writes her romantic-suspense books with a definite slant to the suspense. I like it, especially when the baddie isn't easy to figure out.

Several months ago I read a Lori Wilde in the same series and had a similar reaction. It was Ok but missing an element to elevate it to a wow book. The romance was lukewarm at best and the hero was not alpha enough for me. Even so, I'll read more by her LOL.

About the only good think I can say is that it was a library audio book and I rode my new bike and cooked and cleaned while I listened to it. I think I would have rather listened to music instead.
