YA Fantasy Series - Group of teenage kids are placed in some kind of stasis pods, by their parents, that protect them from the effects of what is implied by the author's writing to be a nuclear war. After many decades the kids wake up to a world that has reverted to a fantasy-like state where the nuclear radiation has produced creatures such as centaurs, dinosaurs, etc. The first book, the main protagonist is found by a heavily deformed version of his father and helps him find the other 5-7 kids in stasis. Throughout the books the kids are tasked by a mystical leader, who is an over-watching good character, to gather allies to fight in a final battle in the last book against an evil creature and his armies. The books have the kids gather allies from an underwater kingdom, an amazonian women-warrior society, a civilization of cave dwellers in a dinosaur infested environment, centaur tribes, and a technologically advanced city inhabited by powerful mages, as well as others that I can't presently recall. The books were written before 2012 but most likely still after 2000.
