Did you read the last one? There was a little movement on that front. Makes me really look forward to their book now.

Was that the one with Basil? Everyone loved that book I was like meh its ok totally felt like the odd man out.

message 903: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 65 comments @Dawn. Yes it's with Basil, I haven't read the series in awhile and wanted to get back into it. I'm 100 pages in have laughed at a few scenes. I'm thinking I need to re read all of them to refresh my memory. I will let you know what I think of it when I'm done reading it.

Nope. The plotting and writing are deteriorating from book to book. I'm just not interested.

Jenn | 65 comments so I'm 200 pages in on the Immortal who loved me and I was getting kind of bored. Sherry's back story still hasn't been described

I think her story gets flushed out almost at the end.
IMO it was a weird one and at times it did not make sense.

message 907: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 65 comments I finished it and I didn't like it as much as the others. the best scenes were with Lucian and Bricker, they had me laughing slot but through most of the book I was confused about story and I didn't like the ending

Agreed on the confusing part, and while I think Ms. Sands was trying to reach out and demonstrate a grim reality things were just to easily resolved I think. Lucian quite is quite funny in my opinion.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I finished Etched in Bone and I did like it but I must admit I had some challenges with it. I think I was hoping the story would really be centered on Simon and Meg as well as resolving some of the issues with the elders. In the end I just feel like to much time was spent with the brother and his depressing family.

Sandra | 4736 comments Reading Bloodshot (Cheshire Red Reports, #1) by Cherie Priest and its quite challenging as it is a straight up UF with a very old vamp who steals stuff for a living. And she has panic attacks as well. Well written, I'm about half way :)

message 911: by Anne (new)

Anne | 318 comments I am currently reading Commander Bear (Bear Patrol, #1) by Scarlett Grove . It has so many errors that it is hard to read - trying to finish it.

message 912: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (last edited Apr 13, 2017 07:52PM) (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I finally finished Into the Fire (Night Prince, #4) by Jeaniene Frost

I really did not care for this one. I felt like Vlad was a different character I mean I could barely understand what Leila saw in him. And Leila seemed a bit more Mary Sue than I recall and finally while I appreciate the Cherokee concept it just did not work for me.

This one was a total miss. I think perhaps it is time for me to break up with the whole world and just have fond memories

message 913: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments Well it was the last one in the series, unless you're counting Ian's spin off.

I started Heart of Venom (Elemental Assassin, #9) by Jennifer Estep there's no way I can get through the rest of the series before the new one comes out. Oh well, I guess it's better to be so far behind than all out of books to read, right? I am really liking this one.

message 918: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

message 920: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Wow book six already!
Is Annie the youngest one? Personally, Verity was always my favorite. My library has been so slow in getting the Chaos book.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Started Blade Bound (Chicagoland Vampires, #13) by Chloe Neill in beginning she says it has only been a year since Merrit became a vampire ...how can that be right when Ethan was missing for like six months (or maybe it was more I cannot recall)?

message 927: by L.E. (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished listening to Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse, #4) by Charlaine Harris and I agree with the fans that it is the best in the series so far - My GR Review

Also read Pack and Coven (Pack and Coven, #1) by Jody Wallace which was alright. My GR Review

Read Surrender by Amanda Quick as well. It was not Quick's best but I enjoyed it overall. My GR Review

Now listening to Curse on the Land (Soulwood, #2) by Faith Hunter and reading Purity in Death (In Death, #15) by J.D. Robb

The books are better than the TV show - and a lot different. You just have to look at them as two separate things.

This July Charlaine Harris' Midnight, Texas series is going to be on the timeslot that Grimm was. That it also another great series with some of the characters fromm Sookie Stackhouse crossing over into it.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Anne wrote: "The books are better than the TV show - and a lot different. You just have to look at them as two separate things.."

I agree. The books are very different. In fact, any similarity is very superficial (mainly only the character names). I only watched season 1 of the show and called it quits. Not my cup of tea. The books are much better.

message 940: by Josie (new)

Josie Jaffrey (josiejaffrey) | 18 comments I agree that the show and the books are very different, but I thought they each had their merits. Once I got over being annoyed by how different the TV series was from the books, I enjoyed it.

I do think the books get a bit tedious at around book 11 - they stopped having the sexual tension of the previous books and I felt like the author stopped caring about the story.

message 941: by Amerita (new)

Amerita Elf | 1 comments I'm halfway through Becky Chamber The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1) by Becky Chambers , I've had a top 5 fave list for many years nothing out there seemed unique enough to catch my attention now that's changed with Becky Chambers, welcome to my now top 5 best writers on the planet, 1. Terry Pratchett 2. Jim Butcher 3. Larry Correia 4. Simon R. Green 5. Becky Chambers

message 942: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished Dark Taste of Rapture (Alien Huntress, #6) by Gena Showalter - a somewhat disappointing end to the series although I am looking forward to continuing with the spin-off series.

My GR Review

And I listened to Curse on the Land (Soulwood, #2) by Faith Hunter - very enjoyable although Hunter hasn't really gotten into her groove with this series yet.

My GR Review

I didn't realize that it was a self-pub one. I've found her stuff since the Riley Jensen series hit or miss for me.
