Stacy, I'm really glad you posted this. My challenge last year started at 75. Then after the year started I was like ehhhh I think I'm going to shoot for 50 instead. And I didn't make it to 50 either. It was a really busy, fun, whirlwind of a year that didn't leave me a lot of time for reading. But still a great one! So I'm doing what you're doing and shooting for 40. :)

Thanks! I really, really want to do 100 books some year. But that's not going to be any time soon. I get really jealous about others on here that are able to read that many and more. (Maybe I'm just really, stupidly, competitive?) But I have enough to stress about without adding my book total to it. Books that I'm supposed to be reading for fun and enjoyment.
It's been kind of tough because I'll stop and think for a minute that I should have at least ONE book read by now and that I am SO slacking. But then I mentally slap myself and I get real. :)

Anyway, being behind in my challenge for most of the year last year stressed me out most of the year last year. And as my bf said, "If it stresses you out, you're doing it wrong." How right he was. Not only was I stressed about being behind, but I was also stressed that my other hobbies were falling behind and a lot of things were slipping my mind. So, to make my reading more enjoyable, I'm scaling back to 40 books. Someday, I'll up it to 100, but I think I need to wait a lot of years before I do that.....other hobbies, kids, and work get in the way. LOL :)
