Alicia | 1490 comments I finally got it!! All 20 done, I'm so happy I could cry.

That dog was so evil! I was just googling famous UK books at the end.

I just came here to say I got the dog one and saw your comment. Seriously, I still don't understand the dog part.

Well done, Alicia! That dog was really quite misleading!! I just woke up, so can’t think about it just yet, but will keep googling ideas for the telescope when I’m properly awake and get a chance!

Alicia | 1490 comments NYT released their 100 Notable Books of 2020. Lots of great ideas for the 2021 challenge!

The titles The Beauty in Breaking: A Memoir and The Beauty of Your Face right next to each other seem like a sort of not-so-subtle threat to "break your face"!!

message 2263: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Haha well there were times this year where I wanted to break someone’s face....but then I read a book instead =)

I found some great books I hadn’t heard of that fit with our immigration prompt as well as new BIPOC authors.

Thanks for sharing this list! I found 22 non-fiction books that look interesting!

Welcome back annie! We are in the middle of a Read-a-Thon if you wanted to join in!

message 2269: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments I never start challenges early, other than timing it so I'll finish a book on or after Jan 1.

message 2270: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3334 comments That's what I do, Nancy. I use the next weeks until New Year's reading whatever I'd like.

message 2271: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments I usually read holiday books in the week or so leading up to Christmas, but this year I'm starting early. I have a list of Christmas rom-coms and heartwarming stories all ready to go!

message 2272: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments I’m also in a rom com state of mind for the rest of the year. Plus some cozy, hallmark-esque mysteries.

Oooh do we need to read Moose Springs #1, The Tourist Attraction?

Alicia wrote: "Oooh do we need to read Moose Springs #1, The Tourist Attraction?"

nope! they're standalones. just set in the same town. you get introduced to the characters in the first book and the town but if you don't want to read the first one, it should still make sense. (i mean, i'm a stickler for reading in order so it'd bug me but that's just a personal thing!)

message 2277: by [deleted user] (new)

i also set up the aty challenge on the story graph! (hope the mods don't mind, i didn't think to check beforehand sorry! if you want any changes made, just let me know).

so if any of use that site, you can track your reading challenge here: https://beta.thestorygraph.com/readin...

if you want an example of how it works, here's the popsugar for 2020: https://beta.thestorygraph.com/readin.... you can see what everyone on the whole site has read for each prompt so it's great for getting ideas (like our listopias). you can see every book you read that year that fits each prompt on your personal challenge page (so if you like to juggle, it's a great visual tool to moving books around). it also tells you stats (how % you have to go) and it's just a fantastic site & tracking tool if you're into organisation 😊

message 2278: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2992 comments I joined StoryGraph to try out the challenge part of it. Overall I'm not a fan of the layout and I wish I hadn't imported my GR data as all the covers are wrong (it's chosen a "cover to be revealed" image for one of my current reads, really?) and the numbers are out and it's all bothering me. So I'm just going to not look at it, but I'll add in my challenge reads if others are using it.

Hey everyone, this is great discussion! But since this Wild Discussion was set up to be focused on creating the 2021 ATY List, and the process is complete, we are going to close this thread.

If you'd like to continue the discussion, please move to our monthly Reading Discussions!

(annie, I'd love if you'd post that message in the monthly discussions thread so that people who weren't following the 2021 process but may want to hop on that challenge in January could see it!)
