Thanks for the star tip - it's nice to be able to add a rating:)
Good luck on the "stick to it" Steph. I haven't succeeded yet and I've been in all of them so far. If you want to check a book to see if there are more covers for it, click the "Other editions" underneath the tab for that book when you do the add book/author thing.
and I LOVED all of the DED books. I mean, a vamp who turns into a PINK bat? And loses some of her clothes every time she does so? What's not to love about that, right? And don't forget to give us an idea of what you felt about the books--either stars afterwards or a brief statement. (I hated XX because or I loved XX because.)

Thanks for the welcome! Glad to be here. Hope to participate more often.
Thanks, Ann, I hope I can. I think I will ... LOL Mainly b/c I don't want to take any more time away from actually reading to pick something new.
I will post ★ for each as I've read them. (Although ... the star html doesn't seem to work for me - what did I do wrong?)

Finished Thin Air. It was really good, probably one of the best two of Weather Wardens series so far. Starting Beyond the Highland Mist now. Hope it's a good as everyone says. I'm in the mood for an excellent PNR.

Holy Cannoli, LooLoo! I best get to readin'! And I'm super jealous that you have "Witch Craft" to read! I LOVE, love Caitlin Kittredges' Nocture series. I really want to read that one too, but haven't gotten it yet. Please let me know what you think. Were you a little disappointed by "Retribution"? I was. That's another one I've always looked forward to getting my hands on right away, but I didn't like as much as the previous 4.
Ok ... gotta read. :)

Read:

Back in 2002, when this book first came out, it was probably fresh and exciting. But from then on a lot has evolved and I think I've been 'spoiled ' with good quality writing.
The writing was extremely simplistic, repetitive and annoying. The POV changing wasn't done well at all. The story was (I know: even for PNR about a 2000 year old Spartan demi God) totally unrealistic. The characters as well as their actions were unbelievable. Bah, I couldn't wait to finish this book but for all the wrong reasons.
*Clears throat* After the book-bashing I still want to say I want to try out the second book in this series, just to see it the fuss is really based on something.

Here are my stats:
ORANGE - Nightkeepers by Jessica Anderson
RED - Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow
BROWN - Unclean Spirits by MLN Hanover
GREEN - High Stakes by Erin McCarthy
BLACK - Hunting Memories by Barb Hendee
YELLOW - Shadow Game by Christine Feehan

Anyway, I'd love to hear your feedback on that one. Additionally, I think you will really enjoy the Shifter series by Rachel Vincent. I flew through those and hate having to wait for the next release. :)

It's very much The Village meets Dawn of the Dead. I'm not Julieanne but I loved it and wrote a review if you're interested. But then again, as for whether you'd like it or not, I can't say. I also just read Stray, and as for my review of that one ... let's just say I didn't like Faythe very much and leave it at that. ; ) But I don't know how we compare on other books since you've got a private profile so maybe we only disagree on that one.

Shannon,
Didn't realize my profile was private, I'll check that.
I am interested and will check out your reviews. I have to agree that when I first started the Shifters series I wasn't a big fan of Faythe, but she grew on me through the add'l books. A couple of my friends kept saying I should read them, so I did. I have to say that after the first book, where Faythe seems to whine and moan a LOT, I got into them and started enjoying the series more. By the end of the last book I was as close to tears as I'd been with a book about one ... situation. Can't say I expected that kind of reaction from the series that I had to push through in the beginning just to finish. But, I can definitely see where that series wouldn't be liked by all.
Thanks for the info on "FOH&T", I'll definitely read your reviews and move it up on my list. :)
I'm not going to even get close to finishing this months reading challenge. One down... Eight to go. I finally get what all the fuss is about!

Sabrina, that's ok. Just as long as you didn't START any of them before Oct. 1. Good luck on getting your list finished. :o) And on sticking to the POSTED list. I tend to make changes as I'm going along for all kinds of reason. Library doesn't get the book in in time, I can't find it, I'm in the mood to read shifter/were/ghost/witch, I want only humour, the cover art turns me off. Whatever, I just change my list as I go along. :o)

I started to read Touch the Dark but I'm having a real hard time getting into it for some reason...does it get good? So I might end up changing my black choice then, we'll see.

Some authors have good short stories and some don't. At least Charlaine Harris states in the beginning that "I didn't know if I could create a coherent piece of short fiction that would do her [Sookie:] justice." and "I'm still not sure I have, but I've enjoyed trying." So, I have to give her credit for that. I should've really given the book 2★, but couldn't bring myself to do it since I enjoy the overall series. Definitely not rushing to buy more of her s/s though. :)

Halfway to the Grave was fabulous and more than lived up to expectations. I've been meaning to read it for quite some time now, and this challenge was the perfect excuse, but now I'm wondering why I waited so long, LOL. Hopefully I'll get to read Book 2 soon, eh.
I only wish that there was a white or grey category so I could read Lover Awakened :)
Next is a toss up between The Undead Next Door and Enslave Me Sweetly, depending on when the former arrives. I hate it when I have to wait weeks for my books :( Oh, well.

Managed to get my hands on Covet, so swapping that for No Humans Involved in my blue selection.

Betrayed was book 2 in the House of Night series. This is one of those series where you get the idea the author actually wanted to write a 10k or more page book, and the publisher demanded that she split it up into multiple books. Its the continuing adventures of a group of fledgling Vamps--only in this world, Vamps are turned in their teens by something in their genes. When the "Mark" appears on their forehead after a Tracker Vamp finds them, they are removed from their home/school and sent to a boarding school that is exclusively for vamp fledglings. Its an interesting idea. (Did I mention this is a YA series?) Fairly well written, no really bad editing, and I've enjoyed the 2 books of the series I've read so far. 5 stars.

Heather, it does definitely get better! Keep reading. These series is my favorite. I must say Touch the Dark suffers a bit from first book syndrome: too much elaboration on the world building. After 60 pages you'll get into it and I'm sure you'll end up loving it.
I must admit I didn't like Touch the Dark when I started it. I probably wouldn't have finished it had I not read Midnight's Daughter (the spin off series) before it which showed me what a wonderful writer Karen Chance is.
So: be patient, you'll be rewarded :D

Arcadia, you can use Lover Awakened as your pink selection.
