Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments You jumped on this one, Janice!
I was just challenged to watch the Moll Flanders movie by a GR friend today. Lots of books in my series lists for the Emmy Award/TV show. My next two Star Trek books fit here - do I wait two weeks to read them? Guess I will definately be reading The Road. Funny that Jmom mentioned Bruce Jenner. I thought of him as soon as I saw the topic. I heard Rafer Johnson (another decathlon winner - Rome 1960)speak at a confrence when I was in High School. I think my very first Olympic hero was Jim Thorpe. I can still remember Burt Lancaster playing him in an old movie from when I was a kid.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I spent a couple of hours on this last night and petered out after the Academy Awards section. I didn't get to the Emmy section. That will be today's project. Gophering is such fun.

Moll Flanders is a possibility, for sure. I generally look for shorter books for the toppler and at 339 pages, it's doable. This time around, I have some bigger books listed. Let Me In is 17 hours, but after the recent buddy read, I wouldn't mind a re-read.

I wonder if I could use Jurassic Park for Olympics. Long Distance Running. Or maybe it would better fit the 100 meter dash. Hehehe.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Your book lists are so fun to read! Your toppler list is a crack up! I might have to create a list like yours.

message 60: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Love your list too Janice. I was boring and listed book options but not the reason why. That'll keep you all guessing ;-)

message 61: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Nah-uh, Sarah. You have to list the reasons unless you're going to read The Narrowboat Girl. That would be pretty obvious.

message 62: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I have that book on my maybe shelf!

I've updated my post to include my reasoning now. So you can all have a laugh ;-) No idea what I'm going to read yet though.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Cryptogram possibilities:

The Crystal Shard
The Rithmatist
Jhereg

message 64: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I really liked The Rithmatist!

message 65: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments All three are right up at the top of the audiobook queue and I will likely be reading them in October anyway. But, I may opt for The Rithmatist for the challenge. I noticed last night when I was gophering that you gave it 5 stars.

Sarah | 18550 comments It thought it was quite original.

Sarah | 18550 comments I was thinking of Jurassic Park for the toppler too.

message 69: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I'm not sure I want to read it for the toppler. I like to keep my toppler books less that 10 hours, and this one is 15. (view spoiler)

message 70: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Nice pointer Janice. Perhaps that will help sway my reading choice this toppler ;-)
