It’s been about 20 or so years, so no, not really. I just remember that one scene and it stuck out quite vividly.
I think it was somewhere post 1800s. I have a feeling it wasn’t dated too recently? I know that’s super unhelpful. The main character was a boy, if my memory of the narrative is correct.
It wasn’t Sunset of the Sabertooth, but that did remind me: when the boy and the other person/people were walking through the woods in the storm, the mountain lion he saw was eating a deer carcass or something similar.
Yes, it was similar to that series! Red Snow doesn’t sound familiar, but Survivors: Colorado 1886 does. I’m going to read it, and let y’all know!
Here's the Google Books preview of Blizzard: Colorado, 1886 by Kathleen Duey - Anisha_book_lover's suggestion:

The genre may be action/adventure, and there may just be two children, but I’m not sure. I read this in elementary school, and I just don’t remember. I’d like to recommend it to my niece, though.
Thank you!
