Welcome Mandy! We'll definitely be happy to help with book recommendations to get you back into reading for fun. Grats on finishing your study!
Hi Mandy, welcome to the group! Looking at your shelves I think you'll find some new great books easily.
Hi everyone, I'm Jane from Rhode Island, USA. I am excited to be in this group. I have always been an avid reader and never leave home without a book. Looking forward to discovering more books to read and chatting about them.
Hi Jane! I've gotten so I look forward to delays at doctor's offices, and have even stopped ordering food ahead of time so I can read while waiting.
Welcome to all the new members. May your tbr grow exponentially...seriously though, it will. It's a side effect of being in this group.
Jump in and join in discussions. What have you been reading lately? what's going on in your life?Ask questions. We're quite friendly tho not quite tame ; )
Welcome to the group Vicki! We love having fun, chatting, reading great books, chatting some more, and adding a lot more books to our tbr :~D I hope you'll join in our activities and experience the fun for yourself.
Hello, My name is Jim and its been 1 day....oh yeah. Wrong group. I am a reader...I try to mix things up...so long as the characters make me care. I read A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I might have to pull that out of the archives and listen again. (but with so many unread books--is that really the most effective use of my reading time?) Anyway, I have been GR for a while...but never realized its community potential. Looking forward to finding a couple of groups to talk books with.
Hi Jim! I honestly think that groups is the best feature of Goodreads, but the most underrated. Glad you found us though and feel free to jump into all discussions. If you remember enough of Walk in the Woods, come and chat to us in there even if you don't have time to reread. I've just posted the May challenge, so hope you and Vicki (heya! Missed you the last few days! Welcome!) join in~!
Hi Jim. Welcome to our group. We do love to talk about books amongst anything and everything else. Jump right in.
Copied from our "read first" thread:"1. DO NOT SPAM! We welcome authors in our group as regular members, participating in the boards and activities. Anyone who spams the group with their books or other products will have their messages deleted and be booted from the group."
That statement applies to bloggers as well.
Hi Jim. I did a re-read of Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail. Enjoyed it as much or more. Good balance of humor, story, info. Have you read other books by Bryson?
Welcome to the group Jim! I know what you mean about caring about the characters - that link is so important to the enjoyment of a book. I think the only ineffective use of reading time is to continue with a book you don't like. I'll never get to read all the books on my tbr, especially with all the ones I've added since joining GR :)
Hello, I found your group by accident and thought it would be nice to try out some of the challenges, they look great, and of course I might join in some of the monthly reads too (I've already read The Martian and enjoyed it). I like reading almost everything, but my favourite genres are sci fi, fantasy, historical fiction and classics. I'm also looking forward to killing some series this year :)
Welcome Teanka! Great to see you jumping right in : )I plan to read The Martian this month, but haven't started yet. Very highly recommended by various friends. Can't wait!
Hi Teanka! Welcome to our group. The group themed reads are more about the discussion, and so we encourage people to participate even if they have already read the book, just as long as you remember enough about it to discuss it. The Martin was a star read for me.I see that you also signed up for the series kill challenge! Enjoy!
Welcome Teanka! You'll find a lot of people with similar reading interests here. There's lots of serial killing going on, but be warned - if you check out other's lists you'll end up adding many of them to your tbr :)
Thanks for the welcome!jaxnsmom wrote: " There's lots of serial killing going on, but be warned - if you check out other's lists you'll end up adding many of them to your tbr :) "
And that's exctly what I'm hoping for:)
Oh yes, I'll check the discussions for the Martian, as well as the buddy read of Ancillary Justice which I enjoyed a lot as well as it sequel.
Welcome Teanka. I think I welcomed you on your serials page. So a double welcome now. Do come join us on the Ancillary Justice discussion - it's definitely an interesting read.
Hi My name is Nikki. I'm a bibliophile and hope to be a published writer someday. I'm also 31, married, and a senior in college. I hope I like it here, it's been a very hard journey to find active book groups.
Hi Nikki. Welcome! You are just in time to sign up for the upcoming week long toppler (Jun 13- 2). You will find the event very active. We also have the other June activities starting - group themed reads and challenge. Come to think of it, I'd better write and post the challenge.
Welcome Nikki. We are a very active group so I hope you enjoy your time with us. Loads of things going on.
Hi Nikki, welcome to the group. You've come to the right place for fun activities, lots of great people, and so many wonderful books that your tbr will explode.
Welcome Nikki. As the others have mentioned, best time of the month to join us when all our events are starting up. If you're super keen and want to read a book in 5 days, you're welcome to join us over in the May challenge.
Hey everyone! My name is Brett, and I am a 32 year old English teacher from Georgia. I've been looking for a monthly reading group where I could engage in some insightful and interesting discussions on some great books. This looks like the place for me! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better, as well as participating in the June readings and challenges. It looks like we will have a great summer!
Welcome, Brett! Like we've been saying to Nikki, this is a great time to join our group when all our June activies will be starting up.
Welcome to all the new members! This group is so much fun and you will definitely see your TBR shelf grow!
